If you ever find yourself in the area where these to interstates cross take a half hr and go into Wytheville go to the Go -mart gas which will be one of the cheaper stations in the area and behind it is Smokies. What can I say good about smokies?
I buy as many gallons of his Baked Beans as I can get into the car to bring back and I keep them in the freezer for those days when you need a little taste
of home and the Country. My mom is from there.
Smokies briskist is melt in your mouth, the pulled pork sandwich is finger licking good.
Smokie , I've seen him, I dont know if that's his name, has won awards and such, but really he seems to be a small town country guy,who does one thing really well.

Cool. Thanks. I go through there pretty often and didn't know about that.

I live about 45 minutes from Wytheville, VA. A group of us who are into BBQ met there recently for lunch. Smokey's is excellent. It's a very simple small place, and we were pleasantly surprised. The owner is a super guy... sat down and joined our conversation.

Heeeeyyy! Where you been, Gretchen?!

I was reading a 2006 post of yours and wondered where you'd gone to.
