So here it is, i have decided that i need to have 500 cups of cooked beef seasoned with taco seasons for the church summer party.

We are planning on 900 people.

So i will have about 70 people helping me cook the beef. Half a cup per salad sounded good to me.

What i need to know is: How many cups of uncooked beef = 9 cups of cooked beef?

Is two cups of cooked beef considered a pound of beef?

Thanx guys

Can't say. Buy a pound of beef and see how much it weighs after cooking. I'd bet the cooked meat will be more than a half pound.

I was thinking of that tell i realized i dont have a scale at my house nor do my friends.

i might have to cook a pound and see if i get two cups out of it.

thanx

Yes...Generally two cups of cook ground beef equals 1 Pound.

The $64000 question is how much un-cooked to equal 1 pound cooked.

Like Miss Katie said....The Fat-lean ratio is a factor, as is how fast it is cooked, and for how long...The hotter it is cooked...the more the shrinkage...Same for longer cooking times...more shrinkage.

I would trial cook 3 batches of 2 lbs each...weigh the after cooking weight and average the three. This should put you in the ball park...HTH

Fun!
