I have a few questions about cooking salmon on an alder plank on the grill. I have 4 pieces of salmon, totaling about 1 lb. First, should I heat the plank on the grill a few minutes over direct heat and then move to indirect and put the salmon on the plank? Or just put the salmon on the plank and put over indirect heat without preheating the plank? Roughly how long do you think it should take for 1 lb. of salmon to cook over indirect heat on a plank? I could only find recipes calling for like 3 lb. of salmon so I don't know where a good place to start is in terms of timing. Thanks.
