Hi everyone,

Please help!!! I bought a breadman bread maker (have never used a bread maker before) and the instructions are so vague I'm afraid I could get them wrong. They say: Before first use, operate the bread maker on the Fast Bake program to burn off the manufacturing oils. Does it mean I don't put any dough in it? Is it safe to operate an empty bread maker?! I want so much to test my bread maker but I truly don't want to burn it to ashes with my first try!!!:)

Yes you need to operate this empty. The bread pan is covered in a protective oil most likely and the cycle they tell you to use will burn this off so your first loaf doesn't taste weird. Enjoy!

Alix and sparrowgrass,

Thanks a million, you're so sweet! I started to think that no one knew the answer to this question. I was really afraid to operate it empty before I was 100% sure I could do it. Thanks again!!!
