Will the large wire bail handle on a 9 qt Lodge D.O. be more of a hinderance than help for indoor cooking?

You're going to mostly grab it by where the bail mounts for oven work. It lies flat and out of the way for you to ignore it until you really want it. I would rather have it for when I want it than not have it at all.

The bail's usefulness comes into play more when you want to drain liquid out of the DO. Very easy to hold the bail with one hand and tip the DO compared to angling the whole DO with both hands.

Thanks for those replies. I have been wanting to get a DO for awhile , and finally ordered one, and was afraid maybe I got the wrong one. Now I feel better. Can't wait to start using it.
