1950's
I totally adore theme parties. How about a 1950's toy box that would have to include a Mr. Potato Head, a Hula Hoop, a Frisbee and Ant Farm? (Was Silly Putty from the 50s?) If the weather or space allows for people to play with them, even better! Get the camera ready!
Some music would be cool too. Elvis, Chubby Checker, Johny Cash, Connie Francis, Chuck Berry, Doris Day, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and how about Hank Williams? I saw a Mp3 player somewhere that was shaped like a 1950's transistor radio....I wish I could remember where I saw it.
If you are hosting the party, don't forget the old School Lunch concept with either a lunch pail or brown paper bags. White bread sandwiches filled with everything from bologna, pimento cheese, to PB&J, apples, Moon pies, and a cafeteria-sized carton of milk purchased for 5 cents from the cafeteria lady with a hair net. Don't forget candy like Fireballs, coconut sundaes, candy cigarettes, and pastel buttermints.
Roller skates, hot rods, bobby socks, pony tails, and such. Will the guests dress the part? I have a letter sweater gathering dust somewhere around here. Invite me! I'll even wear saddle shoes! But if someone arrives in the motorcycle jacket with skinny jeans, a white t, and their hair slicked back, I'm gone! hahaha
