Hi guys, I have had a bag of wild rice in the pantry for like 6 months now and I really want to get around to using it. I was thinking of a good wild rice soup maybe with chicken? I've looked around and cannot find anything that looks too good. Any help?

Thanks!
Chris

Chicken or ham would work too.

My wild rice was aged over a decade! The wild stuff will last forever!
Here's a link to my take on Dawglover's wild rice soup:

I go through about 10 lb of wild rice/year, but my parents had some wild rice that I found in their pantry last year that was probably 15 years old! A friend of mine complained that the natural wild rice I brought her back from MN in March tasted "grassy." I gave her cultivated in exchange for "the good stuff."

Wow looks great! Can't believe the rice last that long:ohmy:
Welcome to DC! It is very good--I've made variations of it several times (I haven't used smoked turkey, rather leftover turkey and added a bit of liquid smoke--a little goes a long way). Next time I make it, I'm going to add some popped wild rice to garnish.
