I am wondering something. I am wanting to make rice with something other than water or broth and I have progesso recipe starters and they can be used as plain soup also. I was wondering if I could use the recipe starters in place of the broth/and or water. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to DC (Discuss Cooking) and absolutely! You can use any liquid for cooking your rice in the cooker.

I like cooking up oatmeal for the week in my cooker, too!

As long as it is liquid it will work. If it is thick liquid though you may want to thin it out a bit with water first though.

The way my mother made yellow rice and chicken was to make chicken soup first.
Then she added the rice and some yellow coloring they got at the Cuban market.

I sometimes use beer in place of water when I make Vigo yellow rice.

Your idea will work just fine..
