Split and toasted jalapeno and cheese bagel. Then I put slices of fresh mozzarella (Costco) on the toasted bagel. Added a smear of Marmite on each cheese slice. Yum!

(People either love or hate Marmite (Vegamite). Guess which group I''m in!)

I like an onion bagel, split and toasted, with cream cheese, thin sliced red onion, capers and Nova.

I had to look up Nova---- and found it's one of my favorite things on a bagel. (Lox) Never thought to put capers on it.

I used to live in a city where Jewish deli's abounded. Although I'm not Jewish myself I sure learned to love everything at their delis. I miss them now, immensely.

The sad excuses that are sold as bagels here in the PNW are mostly just bread shaped into a bagel shape! Ugh.

I am ashamed to say my bag of pot stickers is empty and my chili oil is lonely.

Marmite? Never had it, but it sounds gross!.......lol

Neener neener.:) I'm eating pot sticker soup today. BUT my pantry is bare also---- time for another run to Costco. (My Costco is having a sale on them this month)

Marmite----- you won't know if you like it or not until you try it! Too bad you don't live close to me or I'd give you a smidgen of it to try. And a smidgen is usually what people use for it's a strong taste. But addictive, if you do like it

With you there, Bones. I had never even heard of Marmite until I lived in hall of residence in college. I was given it on toast by the girl who lived in the room next door - bleuch!

Over the years I've come to the conclusion that you need to be introduced to it at a very early age if you are going to like it.

Having said that, in the days when one had to search out specialist shops to find things for vegetarians, I used to find Marmite useful for making stock for soups for veggie friends. I think the jar in my cupboard (which is the smallest size available) must be at least 30 years old. I think I keep it for its sentimental value.

I was introduced to Vegemite when I was in my 20's...loved it from first bite. But then I am a salt junkie.
