Hello everyone. I just joined the forum. I have a passion for pickling. Does anyone have any pickled cabbage recipes they can recommend? I love the taste of savoy cabbage and I'm wondering how it would take to being pickled. Thanks
Jonny

Hi Josie, thanks and hello. I made some pickled carrots earlier this year, they've turned out OK but think I should have made the vinegar a bit sweeter. Not sure about savoy cabbage for sauerkraut either; I think that's usually made with white cabbage but hey, I could experiment.

Almost any vegetable can be "pickled" since it is the brine that is important. Just make sure the vegetable is cut up sufficiently for the brine to be able to penetrate.

Welcome to DC! I love pickled green beans, beets, and artichoke hearts.

Welcome!

I have a great recipe for Asian pickled green beans. It has cider vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic - it's delicious. Really perks up Chinese leftovers.

My kids LOVE pickled cabbage. Unfortunately I dont really have any recipes , i wing it every time. Shredded cabbage, salt, garlic and white vinegar. then dump hot water over the whole thing and usually within a few days its ready to go. next time i do it ill try and pay attention to measurements
