I recently got my Phillips Air Fryer and have been having
fun playing with it.
But there's so much information out there,
I'd really rather see/hear personal experiences from
our fantastic community here at DC.

For example: can I do a bone-in Pork Chop in the AF?
Is it moist and tasty?

I'd love to hear/see what you make in yours.

I recently purchased an air fryer as well!
The most daring item I have made recently was a thin crust pizza.
The cheese was melted to perfection!

I have also tried: button ribs, and the usual chicken wings, etc.
I found a recipe today for bacon wrapped stuffed pork tenderloin! I cannot wait to try this!

I do corn dogs a lot. Excellent.

But for real food, I like doing teriyaki chicken thighs. Brocolli, baked apples. Those were good.

The air fryer (a convection oven by another name for it) is a great tool for cooking sausages such as Kielbasa, bratwurst, hot dogs, ring bologna, , etc. They also will produce crispy fries from the frozen varieties found in the supermarkets. They're good for making tarts, pies, and pastries if used properly. I would roast meatballs, meatloaves, terrines, pot pies, etc.,, but not cook burgers or steaks. The air fryer would make great roasted foul, or a lamb, pork, or beef tenderloin. Don't use it for a pork shoulder, or inside round. You get the idea. I also wouldn't trust them for fried chicken, or tempura dishes. I
would be excellent for my version of fried chicken, where the chicken is lightly coated with seasoned flour, pam fried in hot oil, just until it is lightly browned, and finished in the oven, or in this case, air fryer..

I hopr this gives you some ideas.:)

Absolutely!!!

A couple of tips..

Your internal temp thermometer is your friend. Use it always.
Every a/f will cook a bit differently. Adjusting times and temps is essential.

After purchase, I started with corn dogs, etc., mainly snack items.

My first attempt at real food was chicken wings. I searched and found many recipes/methods and went from there. My a/f chicken wings are as good as any I have had, anywhere.

I went from wings to a whole chicken.. My a/f can accommodate a rotisserie bar. Perfect.
Disclaimer: The rotisserie feature is cool but, shelf cooking does just as well.

My D&SIL brought expensive filet mignon and told me to "go for it".
They came out perfect.

Enchiladas, veggies, most anything can and will come out of the a/f delicious.

Its a learning experience. Enjoy it. :)

I still use my deep fryer. Fry Daddy. I like the air fryer, but it is not a fryer. Its not a convection oven either.
I have a convection oven and it cannot do the same thing as fast.

An air fryer is a type of convection oven. It cooks by circulating hot air around foods, which is heat transfer by convection. It differs from a countertop, or even range convection oven in that the food is closer to the heating element, which is typically above the fan. So the air temp that hits the food is hotter. This site - https://www.thespruceeats.com/air-fryer-vs-convection-oven-4774315[/INDENT] explains the differences, and the advantages of one one with respect to the other.

So, Roll Bones, we were both correct, somewhat.

I've made fish and chips in mine, using frozen breaded fish filets and frozen French fries; I've also used the same filets to make fish tacos. I've found that my AF doesn't preheat as quickly as advertised, so I let it preheat for 10 minutes before putting the food in.

Good!

My air fryer heats quickly and food must absolutely be watched or it will burn or over cook.
I have used mine maybe 10 times since I bought it 6 months ago.
The reason is cleaning the tray and the basket style rack. I use foil over the tray so thats not a big deal, but the rack is. Just another chore.

I put it in the dishwasher and it cleans up fine.

RB, I read somewhere that if you put the entire
grill basket and tray into hot soapy water
straight away it cleans up easily.
So far (knock wood) I've had no issues
with clean up.
I also read not to spray oil directly into the basket,
rather to only spray the food prior to cooking.
I did use a round of parchment paper, leaving a
1/2 inch reveal around the outer edge, when
I did the Kara'age Chicken, just for safe keeping.

Thinking about cleaning an air fryer, does the fan need to be cleaned? What about other parts that aren't the basket or rack?

I find that a wipe down, with a damp micro cloth while still warm, keeps my a/f clean. I use a Norwex Enviro cloth, purchased online.

My Toaster Oven (oster) has a convection fan. Does that make it an 'air fryer'?

No. They have to be made to be an air fryer. An air fryer will have a much tighter sealing door than a toaster oven with convection. But, just to confuse the matter, there are air fryers that are also toaster ovens. But the ones that are both will definitely be labelled and marketed as such.

Interesting.. I learn something new each day.

We bought a countertop multifunction (including air frying, air roasting, toasting, etc.) oven after our toaster oven with convection died. I've noticed that the fan in the new oven on the air fry setting is much more powerful than the convection fan on the old one. So it cooks and crisps more quickly and completely.

I bought the Emeril LaGasbag Power AirFryer 360 Plus and it does everything but make your bed in the morning. Of course it's an air fryer, but wait, there's more! It toasts bread, it toasts bagels, it bakes, it broils, it slow cooks, it makes pizza, its a food dehydrator, and it has a rotisserie!

My sister bought a thing with a halogen light on the top. Is that an air fryer? It had been sold as an air fryer and she said she bought an air fryer. I'm not sure it's an air fryer.
However, if you are into non-fat grilling then this thing is the best. It drains all the fat. I made some bbq style chicken it was really good. NON FAT :))

GG, I remember when you posted that purchase and it really interested me.
Limited space that I now have, I hoped to get rid of 3 things, toaster, micro and toaster oven. Roll them into one. So the one you got would do it?

Especially if it was an air fryer. I don't want to 'fry' anything here. Again limited space and no venting for outside. Don't intend to make huge meals or such, I generally eat with the family upstairs, but when I want to.... it would be nice to be able to have more than toasted cheese.

I'm even reluctant to grill on griddler/grill. Do panni s but that's about the limit... so far! LOL
