Avocado stuffed with tuna (Brazilian recipe)

I want to share with you this recipe, that probably is not really a salad, we can call it a snack, but i consider it more like a salad :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado cut in half
  • 2 drained tuna cans
  • 1/4 of cup of chopped red pepper
  • 1 TBS chopped jalapeño
  • 1/4 cup of coarsely chopped coriander
  • 1 TBS of lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper as you want

Step by step instructions:

Step 1:
Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit. With a tablespoon, remove part of the pulp from the avocado and put it in a bowl.

Step 2: Next, mash the avocado pulp well in the bowl, drain the can of tuna and place the drained tuna on top of the avocado pulp.

Step 3: Then add the other ingredients: the red bell pepper, the jalapeño, the coriander, the salt, and the black bell pepper.

Step 4: Finally add the lime juice and mix the salad well, then stuff the reserved avocados with the ready salad. Place chopped coriander on top before serving.

Now just serve and enjoy!

Thanks for sharing this recipe - it sounds really good. I have a question: what does this measurement mean? 1/4 of cup of tea
You are most welcome :)

In Brazil for measuring recipes, we use tea cups , for ex. 1 tea cup , 1/2 tea cup, etc... but to keep it simple i will switch to cups.

So in this case is 1/4 cup (60ml)
 
I was wondering that too. My guess is that it is an autocorrect typo and should just read 1/4 cup.
In Brazil we use tea cups to measure ingredients, but to be on point here since the majority of the audience is from US, i will use cup instead.

So in this case is 1/4 cup :)

thanks for the clarification , i will do as explained.
 
In Portugal what is most common is canned tuna, tuna can be conserved with olive oil or with plant oil, i prefer olive oil because the flavor is better and if you have a rush live, then you can take the canned, open it and use the olive oil directly in the dish.

It is not the best solution but works quite fine, now if you use the plant oil you need to throw away the oil before serving the tuna to the dish.

Then we have also fresh tuna, but due to the price, it's not very common to see Portuguese people buying it.

I believe GG meant what variety of tuna, Skip Jack, Yellowfin, or Bluefin, Albacore. There are a great many varieties. Am I correct GG?
At the moment I have 4 different Tuna tins in my pantry.
Aurora, Skipjack (Listao), Soybean Oil, Thailand - this is an importing distributor company
Pastene, Skipjack (Listao), Soybean oil, Thailand -
Ocean's, Skipjack (Listao), Olive Oil, Thailand
Rio Mare, Olive Oll, original packaging thrown out so don't know which kind or where from. but probably Skipjack.

So to answer your question, in Portugal when we talk about tuna there is no variety like you stated above.

So it can be canned or fresh, that's the only option i see available :)
