In all my years of cooking I have never made a waffle. 33 years ago I received a wafle maker and it has never been out of the box. I was reminded of it while cleaning out some items. I totally forgot I had it stored away. Now with 3 grandson who love pancake and waffles . I thought I would switch it up for them and make waffles, Instead of the frozen ones.
I was going to pre try the recipe in the book that came with it.
Does anyone have a favorite (no belgium)- they don't like them that big
thanks

I just use my pancake recipe. It works well and my kids love it.

2 cups flour
2 cups milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1 ROUNDED tbsp (or 4 tsps/20mg) baking powder

Stir dry ingredients into wet, using as little stirring as possible. Some lumps are fine. Make sure your waffle iron is hot and greased (however you do it) I use about 1/3 mixture - 1/2 cup for each waffle and drizzle it over the bottom iron til its all covered, then pour a BIT extra. Close and wait for the light to turn off.

Thanks alot will give them a try.
Should of tried that wedding present along time ago
I would guess any warranty on it would expired - lol

Fir st make sure it still heats up! I once gave a waffle cookbook with the waffle iron (as a gift).

Thanks, It is brand new in the box, I have plugged it in to make sure it did work.
33 yrs ago I received it as a wedding shower gift. Hubbie not a pancake or a waffle person, when we had our daughter she was a pancake person so never opened it.
so now with the 3 grandson Im bringing it out.

i use the krustez mix and then i add vanilla, cinnamon and sometimes walnuts. My dad adds sharp cheese to his, surprisingly, thats tasty.

Be sure to season the waffle iron and remember that making waffles is just like making pancakes, the first one is not going to turn out right. Just plan on it. And since it is essentially a new pan be sure to lube it up really well. It takes a while to build up a really good season on any pan. I have a waffle maker that is a hand me down from my MIL and even though it is very, very well seasoned I still go overboard with the butter just to make sure nothing sticks.

We use this for pancakes and waffles ...

1 1/4 C. Flour
1/4 C. Sugar
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 Heaping tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 C. Buttermilk
1/2 C. Oil
1 Egg

Put everything into a blender (wet first), mix and let stand for a few minutes.

I typically do a double batch and then freeze the waffles in twos separated by wax paper. They toast up really well straight from the freezer!

I love peanut butter on my waffles! I would love to find a way to get the maple syrup in the waffle. Do they make maple syrup chips, like crystallized bits of maple syrup? Hmmm ...

Yes, they do. I found mine in the health food section with the other sugar substitutes.:)

how many times have you moved that box? or have u been in same house for 33 years. i am sure i would have thrown it away or give to goodwill. how clever of you to still have it.

babetoo
moved once - 3 years after married been in same house since
have a great pantry with lots of shelving. and this was put on the top shelf with things I don't use often. I have clean out alot here and there and I still kept it.
when we got married 33 yrs ago we received 5 crock pots. I do use all 5 at times.
From big family and get togethers they come in handy. Then washed an put away next to the waffle maker. I gave it a trail test and works great , oldest grandson is here overnight and waffles in the morning. so now will be store out of the box and on a lower shelf.

secret ingredient

i'm astounded if not flabbergasted and bewildered that no one has mentioned this ( pssst!) "SECRET INGREDIENT" !!!

malted milk!!! add 3 or 4 tablespoons to a standard sized recipe.

;)

I use Egg Nog to make French Toast when it's out during the holiday season - never thought about adding it to waffles ...

I do that too. I thought Waffles would be good also. I didn't get around to it today. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
