GCC - The 4 Seasons Challenge

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
What if we give ourselves the long weekend (you guys get one of those in May?) to do the prep and pix and then post the last weekend in May?

That works well for me. I am away the last weekend in April and in early May have some dental work to get done. So how about we aim for Saturday May 28th?

As for the actual splitting of the thread, thanks goes to Fiona. I was (and still am) having problems with my asthma thanks to cherry blossom "snow" as we call it here. It is all over the place and inhalers and antihistamines just aren't helping :(. But it will be over soon as it is supposed to rain tonight!

Do we want to say you must use 1, 2, whatever ingredients that are identifiable for the season or just leave it as representing the season in some way?

I don't see any benefit from limiting ingredients this time. The Convenience Store Challenge, yes...but not this one. But, one caveat, ingredients should be available for eveyone...no Kobe Beef...no one should be going broke just to provide a dish. Experimentation with something you've never cooked before is fine, just be prudent.

We WANT others to be trying our recipies...don't we?

Well, I have some ideas swirling around in my head, so I would like to try this one!
Barbara, your food is what counts pretty dish won't fill our tummied. I know Id love to see you jump in here.

I might try this one. The timing is great for me - long enough after tax season for me to have time to recuperate and long enough before the 15 June deadline for self-employed people.

I'm in. I'm busy through the first week in May but then things clear up a bit so the end of May work well. I may do mine early but I'll hold off posting till later in the month.

I agree to let everyone interpret as they will.

Kathleen? Are you up for your fourth challenge?

It is nice to see some new names there? Have I forgotten anyone? Anybody else want to try? It really is great fun and mostly about challenging yourself to think outside the box!

And dishes, or gourmet aren't what is important. What IS important is cooking from your heart and enjoying it.

TNT or invent new recipes?

I would say "invent new". The idea is to challenge yourself to try something new or different. That doesn't mean you can't take a TNT and put a new spin on it or take it in a new direction. Those are always fun.

I would probably totally stink, and I don't have pretty dishes to present anything, but I would love to try my hand at this. I like the seasons idea.

As others pointed out, please join! Paper plates work just fine. If you have your heart set on glass, I'll bet you could get a place setting or two of pretty dishes at your local dollar store! Either way, join! Like PF, I'll be looking at the food. :)

Kathleen? Are you up for your fourth challenge?

I'm tentatively in. Unfortunately, I'm moving into a really busy time of year at work. Things will get busy and not slow down until mid-June. :( With a lot of time to do the meal, I think I can do it though! :)
