GCC - The 4 Seasons Challenge

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I am hoping to be in - it just depends on how things go with my Dad over the next little while. I have almost everything thought out.....only trouble is, now I may have to simplify it.

I am up on "Dad watch" so have been tweeking the paper versions of my courses. Still not at all sure of how I can incorporate my theme into a beverage, but everything else is just about perfected. Now to try and recreate it in actual food!

YOU have a THEME? I thought the theme was the four seasons. I guess I am out then. I didn't go that route.

Patty NO!!!!!! You have already started. Please don't let my poor choice of words turn you away. Barbara is right. I just thought of how I would incorporate the four seasons with my courses. Everyone does things their own way and I really can't wait to see what you (and Barbara and others) have done. Please, please don't let anyone make you think that you can't compete.

Those of us who have done these before are realizing that the only one we are competing against is ourselves and that is just in trying to challenge ourselves and have fun.

I would feel terrible if my slip of the fingers (instead of tongue) stopped you from going on.

I got so lucky...one of my ingredients was at the Farmer's Market and the guy assured me he would have more for the whole season. Another vendor assured me he would have another ingredient next weekend and he would save it for me.

I will get to have a practice round with the one...:)

Patty, the theme is The 4 Seasons...that's it. No other "theme" is required or needed. It's totally up to you how you incorporate the theme into your meals.

It is so much fun, and trust me, even we, who have participated before, have those days when we feel that we will never accomplish it. But we do and that is the best!

I'm keeping the weeds to a minimum....kinda. Work has just been crazy...and will get more so until after the third week of June. :/

We've been working on data entry, trying to get all admit records from the last 7 years into the Electronic Medical Record. At least we don't have to get all the notes in, but I'm getting about 8 extra hours a week just transcribing.

Miss ya!

Oh. My. GOSH!!!!

I made my appetizer tonight and the main feature (which is something I would never have thought to make if not challenged) was so good that I will be making it a lot! I can't wait to share it with you all!!!:chef:

Is it too late for me to tentatively join? If I can find the time this weekend, I'd love to participate. I would just need someone to explain the posting procedure/rules to me.

Absolutely not too late! When you are ready to post, start a thread in this forum (Contests) Titled GCC The 4 Seasons - Sprout and post your menu, then a separate post for each course of the meal. Beverage, Appetizer (or soup and/or salad), Entrée (can be vegetarian) and sides (1 or more sides), Dessert.

Incorporate your interpretation of The 4 Seasons into your menu and recipes. If you have pictures, fantastic, if you don't...we love ya anyway! It's the food and you that are the stars, not how well it can be staged. Write w review of what you have cooked, how it tastes, etc. If someone else helps eat, have them review, too. Toddler handprints are extra credit.

The most important rule...Have Fun and don't take it too seriously! No stress.

That's great to hear, Dave! Can't wait to see what you make this time around!

I am afraid I will have to bow out. I know it isn't for another two weeks but with my Dad not well and not knowing what will happen, I need to put all my energies toward him right now. But I do look forward to all your entries and to see what the next contest theme will be!

The next theme shall be..."All LP's Favorites!"

:LOL::LOL:Awww, thanks, Your Ogreness, but that's already been done - Chocolate and Mushrooms......and no, we are NOT doing a Chocolate Mushroom challenge!
Have you done one yet with all cold foods? That would be a good summer one.

I need to do my Spring and Winter dishes and then hurry and get them posted, as I will be gone all day Tuesday and I will be flying to California Wednesday.

I know that feeling Barbara, I bought my ingredients, I have my menus and recipes...I'm covering the Plant Sale for Relay for Life on Saturday...so what did I do?...decide I was going on vacation from the 21st to the 31st...so I'll be cooking and posting coming home from vacation!

Have a good trip, I wish you safe travel and few troubles. Hugs!:)
