Green bean casserole; any good recipies?

Hey everyone. I have never made green bean casserole. But, my boyfriend is making it for his family this Thanksgiving. He made it the old fashioned way last year with the cream of mushroom soup, beans, and little onion thingies. But, he wants to do something a little different but still simple...

    Raw vs Cooked Vegetables

I don't like cooked carrots but raw ones are okay. I love brocolli both ways but prefer it raw rather than cooked.

    low-carb and lonely

I'm doing the low carb thing too! I'm doing the low carb thing too. I lost 10 lbs on the S Beach diet a few months ago. :D I've been on "modified" (harhar  ) phase II for a month and I haven't gained...but I haven't lost either. So, I am going on phase I again as of today...

Low carb recipe with chicken? Anyone have a good one?

Hi all! I roasted a chicken last night and we ate the breast meat but I have the whole rest of the darn thing left. I would normally make a soup or casserole out of the left overs. But, I'm on this silly low carb diet and I need a good recipe for left over roasted chicken that does not...

Help me with this low carb peanut butter cookie recipe.

This recipie turned out well for me. The only thing that I did differently was that I rolled them into balls and smooshed them down with my fingers then baked them at 325 degrees F for 9 minutes. They were a little crumbley but mostly just soft and yummy! I put them in a gladware container...

Quick eggs for those hurry mornings!

So, I was so intrigued by the cottage cheese, egg, and oatmeal pancake idea that I decided to experiment with the ingredients and try to make them. They were really good...but kinda gooey on the inside. I started with 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1 egg, and about 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal. I creamed...

    Flat cookies

Well, from my own experience, I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies using butter instead of shortening and they came out really flat. When I made the exact same recipe again only using shortening instead of butter they came out perfect. :)

    Cottage Cheese Pancakes

Hey, I didn't know if you would go back to this topic or not so but I wondered if you know the recipe off hand for those cottage cheese, oatmeal, and egg pancakes? That sounds great! I'd really like to make those but not sure of the proportions of ingredients to use. Thanks! :)

    Weight Watchers - any tips?

I found this recipe on the WW website a few months ago. I think you may still be able to find it there under "Mini Veggie Quiches". I think they are worth 1 point per. This is a really good, quick, and filling breakfast. I have also posted this under the "eggs" topic. I add egg whites and a bit...

Heavy whipping cream vs. half and half

Thanks Kitchenelf! Actually, that was pretty much the answer I was looking for. I'm always scared away by recipies calling for heavy cream and whipping cream because I try to stay light. But, I would have used 1/2 and 1/2 and not understood why it wouldn't whip. Your explaination...

    Tips and recipes for wok?

Thanks Jed! Lets has a flat bottom, I believe it is high carbon steel, and I use an electric stove top. I did read that you shouldn't use olive oil with it. I suppose it is because it gets so hot and olive oil heats at such a high temp. I bought some canola oil to use with it because...

    Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

I made this last night and it was absolutely delicious!! I added a little thinly sliced red onion to the top of the chicken before baking it to add a little extra flavor. I can never seem to find a good basic honey mustard salad dressing in the grocery store so I was also pleasantly suprised...

    Store-bought chicken is too salty...

you may want to try organic or "free range" chicken meat. it's a little more expensive but they don't use chemicals or hormones at all in raising and processing the chicken. just an idea.

Know how to make hard cookies soft?

My mom has this trick for making hard cookies soft that I think is so neat...and so easy! If you have cookies that are too hard or are bought hard at the store just put them in a zip lock baggy with a slice of bread for a few hours. They will soften right up!

Quick eggs for those hurry mornings!

Hi all, I'm new here so I thought I would start out by adding one of my favorite morning ideas. I love eggs and substitute eggs for breakfast in the mornings. I'm always rushing in the morning though. So, lately I have been making them ahead of time. I add egg whites and a bit of milk and...
