2024 Edition - What are you baking?

Washed, pitted and chunked up about 8 cups of peaches tonight. Bought a huge peach earlier in the week that was so juicy and sweet made my knees buckle. So when I went back to the store 2 days later I bought a 3 litre basket. Peaches were smaller but I thought they looked good. Very juicy...

Garlic for 2024, one new variety this year

Kgirl, you're really going to have to check with your local nurseries or that gov't office/extension(?) that helps farmers, etc. - can't think of what you call them! Go to a Co-op that sells horse feed, farm supplies, etc. They'll be able to tell you who to ask.

    Alcohol or NO alcohol?

The sell vanilla in the grocery stores, depanneurs, where ever food stuffs are sold. Have no idea why it isn't labeled as alcohol but I'm guessing it is pretty nasty to take a swig of it. Think someone might chuck it up before being able to finish a tiny bottle. But the OP isn't asking about...

What's your weather right now? 2024 Edition

So it turns out the surprise I felt about the deluge was well deserved. The flooding was pretty bad in Toronto. Complete shock to all. One report showed a man being rescued from the top of his car - which you could barely see maybe 2" of roof showing.

    Alcohol or NO alcohol?

As taxy has said, but in any case you are required by most laws to list your ingredients. If people don't want to ingest an ingredient - then they just won't buy it. Not a big deal. If that's how you want to make it, then do so!

Monday night dinner, July 15, 2024?

Very true taxy and by the same token, not too many people even knew that Mozzarella di Bufala came from Water Buffalo and not Bison

    Today's harvest

pepper, I would/could just NOT plant those pole beans - on principle only. I've seen some 'mange-tout' almost ready for picking. Been raining so hard lately haven't had a chance to grab the few I do see. Guess I should pick the jalapenos while they're still all in one piece. (afore...

    Today's harvest

Marlingardener, those look like sugar pumpkins - yum for pies! If you have lots of blossoms check for male and female and pick a few that you have the most of - always wanted to stuff and batter them... or... I understand the male flowers usually blossom first and the girls later. So...

Wet grinder uses aside from dosa/Idli?

So that's good news for you BAP, now you don't have to get rid of your current wet grinder! Freeze it, or chill a lot before even putting it in the grinder. Good on you pepper, knew you had to have an answer for her! BAP sure hope that works for you, let us know!

Yes, taxy, of course I know they are around now, but 10 years ago they were difficult to "find".

Monday night dinner, July 15, 2024?

LOL - yeah, just found it in Stirling, ON, not too far from you? While still in Mtl area, once searched for Water Buffalo farms but the only ones I seem to have found were here in Ontario. Although I think there was one much further east from me. All of them too far to travel for cheese! I...

Monday night dinner, July 15, 2024?

Bagel with creme cheese. pictonguy, you have some buffalo near you? I'm jealous. I'd swap out the creme cheese for fresh buffalo mozzarella any time! I sometimes see it in the stores here, but usually it is passed its prime. Still good but not fresh. There was a cheese specialty shop on the...

What's your weather right now? 2024 Edition

Had the most horrendous thunder storm earlier today - it was a WOW - HOLY PETUNIAS!! went on for a goodly time. Surprised me as that kind rain isn't usually for very long. Finally stopped, I ran some errands, stepped outside of last stop and nearly drowned before I could get to the car - which...

Wet grinder uses aside from dosa/Idli?

Not being familiar with wet grinders for food and having just looked them up, seems they are specific to your Indian food you like so much. Are you perhaps putting too much in your grinder? Or maybe you could just do half amounts at a time?

Rocklobster's Pork Tenderloin w/Mushrooms in Cream Sauce

Yeah, Pork Tenderloin with Marsala by ReciipeTinEats is one of them and there are quite a few out there. Love gravy/sauce with Marsala and Mushrooms! One of my all time favourites. Thanks Andy, just might do that next time. Fun point, just looked at the date on her recipe, originally from...

July 14th '24, Sunday dinner to start a new week

No, it's a shame. Think I must have saved it in a Word document and then later (when introduced to CMT) transferred it over. Quite a few photo's are sorely missed. Have peaches and some of the recipes listed here are sooo tantalizing with everyone commenting on the pics ... that are no longer...

I did a CMT of the original post, (don't remember when) that was the one I did. But yes, I did read the whole thing way back in '15. Just not now while making it. I was doing Rock's recipe, so even though all the others sound great I still prfer to make a recipe the original way that...

So finally made Rock's tenderloin dish. WOW, what a winner! I know it's early but if I hadn't made it now might have been one of those old familiar stories - too pooped to pop! Rocklobster - you are a rock star! this is a company worthy dish. Have some leftover rice to have with - if it...
