    Anyone into grits?

Love grits. I like them simply with butter and salt and maybe a little milk once they're finished cooking. I eat Cream of Wheat (a favorite of mine since I was a kid) the same way. I made shrimp and grits once from a nice looking recipe I found online. It wasn't bad, but not something I'd make...

I'd like recommendations for good powdered eggs

I agree, powdered milk is not very pleasant, if you drink it on its own. My grandma, who lived through the Great Depression, always made pitchers of powdered milk that she kept in her fridge and would serve it with cookies, and also with meals, to my sister and I anytime we would visit. We drank...

I'd like recommendations for good powdered eggs

Yes, I'd much rather have raw eggs as well. But I'm thinking about all this talk of egg shortages and food shortages and that kind of thing. It's just something I think I'd like to have on hand, kind of like having powdered milk on hand, just in case we have times of emergency and fresh eggs...

I'd like recommendations for good powdered eggs

With high egg prices and possible shortages coming, etc., I'm looking to buy some powdered eggs to have on hand, just in case. Do any of you buy powdered eggs and could you recommend a good brand with good flavor that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm looking mostly for eggs that can be eaten...

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

Excellent. Thank you. I have powdered milk in my store room, along with emergency food kits and some stock of canned goods. I mean, you never know.

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

Thanks for the recipe and the tips. This may sound like a silly question, but when you say "milk powder", do you mean just your standard dried/powdered milk? Or is there a special milk powder you need to use?

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

It looks amazing. I'd love to try it very lightly toasted and spread with some quality butter. It's those simple little things in life that make it all worth it. And a good piece of buttered toast is one of those things :yum:

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

Oh my goodness, look how beautiful this is. I may have to put away my dislike for baking and try making a loaf, once I find the pan.

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

Very interesting indeed. I've never seen one of those before. Now I'm curious and will look up some more info!

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

They're still with the salad dressing and some in the produce dept. here. Speaking of what's in the produce dept, I also like the wonton strips you can buy for salads. But sometimes I just want good ole croutons. I'm not even sure where I would start looking for something like that. Sounds...

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

May have? They absolutely did become larger. And harder. It's difficult to eat the large ones. Some of them are so hard that I can barely bite into them.

Ohhhh, cool! I found them. Thanks! ;)

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

Well I'm going to sue them all because I want the little ones back! LOL And what happened to the emojis? No more little smiley faces that we can put into our posts. Why did they get rid of those??? :-(

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

I've actually done that a couple of times, using something to break up the croutons. But then I end up with a bunch of crumbs and tiny little pieces that I can't really use in a salad. I pick out the pieces that are salvageable, but the whole process is more trouble than it's worth.

Whatever happened to 'normal' sized croutons?

I mean the ones you can buy in the grocery store. I recall Pepperidge Farm having these great little cheese-flavored croutons, which were my favorites. And they were nice and small. Now all you can buy are these humongous "homestyle" type croutons that, if you're not careful, can break your...

How to oil a potato without oiling my hands?

My mom always used butter as well. Sometimes I use butter, sometimes I use oil. As for how I get the butter or oil onto the potato, I simply smear the butter/oil and the potato around in my hands, the way mom always did it. Then I just wash my hands. It's never even occurred to me to try and...

    LET'S GET FOOD-CONSCIOUS?!

When I look at food labels, my eyes go directly to the calorie content 1st, saturated fat content 2nd. Fat and calories are the main things I pay the most attention to. As a diabetic, I also look at total sugars. However, I don't really pay all that much attention to the ingredients. It's not...

Any idea what this is? Found it on my tuna salad today. So beautiful. Tastes a bit like a pepper.

Also, I've seen these peppers on the olive bar at Giant Eagle and have always thought how beautiful they are. I've never actually tried them, though. I'll go ahead and pick some up the next time I'm there to see what they're like.

Any idea what this is? Found it on my tuna salad today. So beautiful. Tastes a bit like a pepper.

From what I've been reading, there are several different names that pepper falls under. More than likely, different regions call them different things. But the Biquinho pepper is supposedly very hot. So apparently there are different versions and different ranges of heat for those peppers, which...

What to add to Ramen noodles

Yup. You can also buy Ramen bowls, which come with a seasoning packet and dehydrated vegetables. My favorite thing to add to Ramen is peas and/or shrimp.
