    Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL

If you like white bread and lotsa sauce, this place may be for you. Everything is served on throw-away stuff. Actually there are two locations - the original, which appears to be an old trailer that grew, and the other, more modern (cleaner?) one down by the river. They sell T-shirts too.

    Don't Know Much About....

Geebs' new game about members made me think of another one. What are you interested in but don't really know much about? Or, what are you never going to be interested in? Make sure to 'splain why or why not. I'll start with a couple; there's plenty more: Astronomy - those Hubble photos take...

    Dor's Baked Mac and Cheese

I never got the hang of good baked M&C until my sister turned me on to her version. 1 stick of butter salt and pepper to taste about 2/3 cup of flour 2 cups (about) milk Blend this in a blender - all the butter may rise to the top but you can keep blending it as you go along Cook almost...

How Do You Make Wine Spritzers?

I didn't know whether to ask about spritzers here or in the Alchoholic Beverages thread. Need proportions of wine and "spritz" and any other ingredients using either red or white wine. Used to drink these a lot in the hot Memphis summers and am suddenly craving them and forgot how my...

    Ads in Posts?

I can't log in to DC at work, but often lurk and see what's going on with you all. Lately I've noticed links and ads in people's posts. Doesn't seem to be things they put there. Is that normal?

    A Sin? You Tell Me

HH and I went to a graduation party on Saturday, where the hosts had hired a guy to do barbecue for the occasion. He had a nice-looking cooker, but was using propane instead of charcoal or wood, which I decided to overlook since he was getting a nice smoke ring on the ribs. chickens, and...

Another Use for Costco Spinach Dip

Adapted from watching a Giada show: boil lasgna noodles until al dente make a mixture of Costco spinach dip, bread crumbs (1/2 cup?), parm (1/2 cup?), and one egg - you don't want it too gooey spread mixture on cooked noodles, roll up and place in a casserole dish with a little marinara to...

I'm Getting A Little Annoyed With Giada

I like her and all, but some of the dishes on "Everyday Italian" only seem to be "Italian" in that she uses mascarpone, ricotta, pancetta, and/or basil in what otherwise would be some regular kind of dish. Big whoop.

    Best "wash" for piecrust?

The last pie I made, I beat an egg and used that as my wash for the crust, followed by generous sprinkles of turbinado (coarse) sugar. I think I like this wash has a better flavor than a milk/sugar or water/sugar application. What about the rest of you?

Idea for new "TV Cooking" forum

I was thinking it might be nice to have a "TV Cooking" forum, where we could corral all the posts in one place about Top Chef episodes and other fave TV cooking shows and cooks. (Disclaimer to kitchenelf: NOT meant to be for mean-spirited, gratuitous bashing) Admin & mods - what do you think?
