    Week without a fridge...

We had company last week, and the day they arrived, the house was clean and the food all organized...then the refrigerator died, THAT DAY! Fortunately, the are good sports, and we have an extra fridge and freezer in the garage. It did put a damper on the gumbo, but we still had a huge bunch of...

    So glad I'm still here!

Last year this time, I was hovering in the valley of death. Thanks to prayers from many good people, strong genes from my ancestors, and the fact that my work here is not finished, I am STILL HERE! I have not had a cigarette since then, and have not been tempted. That, in itself, is something...

    Going to try something different...

Thought I'd try something different tonight. I'm going to pound out boneless chicken breasts and stuff them with ricotta, spinach, etc like manicotti, except no noodles. Then I'll put them in a baking dish, ladle on some spaghetti sauce, and bake. Will cook a little pasta to go with. What do...

Last week I went to a grocery store in a larger town, and found two semi-new varieties of cauliflower, one purple and one golden. I have heard that the purple will turn green when cooked, while the golden will stay the same. I wonder what experiences you all have had with these varieties, and...
