What To Do With Easter's Leftover Ham?

I wish I had got to this section before I used the last of my Easter ham. I haven't been here in quite a while and probably nobody remembers me but thoroughly enjoyed the site before things started happening to my body. I suppose getting older does that to us but I hope to peek in now and...

This was fun - apple rose tartlet

Here's one to make you laugh (true story)

Years ago when I was still working and living in town, we had bought a new stove that kept mal-functioning. I called the appliance company and they were to come out in the afternoon when I got home. On that day I was getting ready for work. As I was getting ready the doorbell rang and I went to...

    Left over nellies

Some things I use the "planned over" method. We eat it one day as original. After that I may use it two or three different ways and may put some of it in the freezer to give me a head start at another time. We aren't like my sister's grandchild after having the big meal at noon and were having...

Beware of recipes on the Internet

I search the internet quite often looking for a recipe. I consider many recipes a starting place where I can add or take away some things. However, with baked goods, I consider them scientific and don't change the recipe - at least the first few times. After that I may change parts of it but not...

    Tuesday's Dinner 3/24/15?

Our church puts on what is called "The North Florida Passion Play" a week before Easter. Dh has been working there on construction, scenery and whatever else he has needed to do. This has really messed up our dinner schedule. We have a big lunch then he may eat crackers or yogurt just before he...

Looking for Easy Recipe for Rump Roast

My sister makes a really good roast beef. She browns it on all sides in a bit of oil then puts it in the slow cooker with only a package of onion soup and soy sauce. Cook to desired temperature. There is enough juice from the roast to make au jus, or thicken for gravy.

    Random Photo Thread: The Sequel

This isn't a picture but a couple of things the above posts bought to mind. When our son was in preschool he came home proudly announcing that he knew how to spell "Indian". I thought that was quite advanced for a preschooler until he said "NDN". Also we had a picture of him in a little sunsuit...

    Dinner Friday 3-6-15

Chef Munky, at first I thought you were a Floridian by your first remark but see later that probably isn't so. Our temps were 85 three days, the the high today is 51 and very windy - too much to cook out.

    Monday the 2nd. Dinner Plans

I put a beef tenderloin in to roast not remembering dh was supposed to be moving scenery this afternoon. He ate a hurried sandwich and I had waffles and ice cream. The roast will be tomorrow.

    50 Pounds Lost

Good job! I need to lose about that much but until my cardiologist signs off on a plan I'll just watch what I'm eating. Several things cropped up just before Christmas that had me really worried so I'm trusting him to lead me the right wayl

    Petty Vents

What is this "authentication required" thing that pops up. I haven't been here in a while and even tho I'm logged in it keeps popping up. How do I get rid of it? If I complete it it still comesback. Thanks.

    The disaster cake

I probably wouldn't have tossed it out either. I've only thrown one dessert out. I made 3 recipes of banana pudding for a family reunion. I didn't have a dish that large so I used an aluminum roasting pan. Just as I picked it up, the pan buckled and turned upside down on my kitchen floor. After...

What are you baking today? | 2014

I wish my grocery store stocked the very pretty crystal sugar that is sometimes put on pastry. I see it on their baked goods but don't find it in the bakery aisle.

    Apple dumplings

Our grandson has been making them for several years now. He still enjoys that and his favorite time to eat them is for breakfast with a big glass of milk.

    Special Edition Cooking Magazines

I've only recently started looking past the glossy eye catcher cooking magazines. For a while I was taking several only to find I almost never ade anything out of them except a big stack of unread magazines. My across the street neighbor somehow got double issues so she puts one of them in my...

How did you have your main meal growing up?

Thanks for the sympathy notes. I suppose eating veggies is what got Mom to her ripe old age. BTW, I'm one of the "crazies" that keep phone messages from relatives. I had one of my dad and also my brother. Mom never left a message but I knew I'd better get back to her right away.

I'm going to make some apple dumplings. Our neighbors have their house on the market and moving back north. They are under a bit of stress right now so I thought they may enjoy the dumplings.

    Tuesday's Menu? 9th Sept

Our day started out with heavy rain so I decided to make taco soup with all the trimmings. By dinner time we were having bright sunshine but the soup was good anyway.
