Why is it so hard to find Coke with Lime?

Sometimes I see it sold but not always. I've run out and it's my favorite drink. I don't want to pay $2 per can on Amazon or ebay. Anyone? Thanks.

    Pasta pot FAIL

We had a great pasta pot - no idea where i found it - the kind with the interlocking handles to use when you poured out the water. It's Teflon coated which wore out and I guess it isn't healthy to continue using it ... but I can't find one I like better! The kind with the insert takes up too...

    Mexcan food at home?

We went out for DH's 59th birthday and he requested Mexican. It was WAY too spicy for me but I think I could create some of the dishes at home, with a lot less heat. I had a rice bowl and he had a wrap type thingie. Anyone make Mexican style food at home? it's doable, right?

    Rice Pudding?

I am having some dental work and it's easiest for me to just eat soft foods for breakfast. I bought some rice pudding and really liked it, and thought I could make it myself when I saw a microwave recipe for one with peanut butter. It was way too rich and I think I will just stick to the rice...

    Muffins don't really rise ...

I see that the muffins in the bakeries are high and beautifully shaped whereas my whole grain muffins are flat flat flat. If I overfill the container, I just have a mess. Is it due to the whole wheat flours that I use, ya think? thanks

    Being creative on the grill

Last time, as I took veggies from the fridge for the kabobs, I remembered that I had fresh pears that woulodn't stay fresh forever .. so I chunked them, skewered them, and grilled them along with everything else. they were GREAT! Then, last night, I realized that we had some leftover...

    The Garlic Wars

Just wonder what your thoughts on this are ...I buy already peeled garlic in a small tub which lasts me several weeks. When I bring it home, I have been running it through a chopper so it's ready to use. Then, I saw a sort of Garlic Chopper, in which I could stick the...

    That new powdered peanut butter?

My sister raves about it - the regular and the chocolate - and I got 2 12 oz containers; either at Trader Joe or WF, and .... drum roll ........ They are FABULOUS ! Has anyone tried them? You can add water and make your own no-fat peanut butter. You can sprinkle it on cereal or ice...

    Broke Magic Bullet-type system, argh

I have a fake Magic Bullet, bought at JC Penney a long time ago with a coupon, which I dropped a while back and cracked. I have a feeling that it's running on borrowed time so I'm looking at replacments. I'm not sure I need a whole system with the blender thingy, a bunch of containers, 2...

Can I sharpen a knife with "teeth" ?

    Does anyone grind cinnamon?

I got a bee in my bonnet that fresh cinnamon would be better than the kind that is sold powdered. So - does anyone grind their own - and if so, what kind of grinder do you use? It is a big hassle to get enough to bake with? thanks.

I broke more kitchen timers; time to go digital?

I don't know when I got my last set of 3; maybe a year and a half ago? Anyway, I busted them all too, and I'm thinking that it's maybe time to go digital ... What do you all think? I don't carry an Ipod for cell phone or mp3 player; I'd have to figure out how to work a digital timer .....

Where to buy really small saucepan?

My daughter has taken to eating a hot soft-boiled egg most days. I have only one really small saucepan, so I wonder where I should get more. I assume that just rinsing the pan isn't good enough to really clean it. I've looked around & don't see such a small pan anywhere. Thanks !

Do I need covered ice cube trays in a frost-free freezer ?

Yes, that's right. I might upgrade to a frost free freezer, no icemaker, and I will have to buy old fashioned ice cube trays. Should I spring for the covered ones? Think it will make a difference, except in the cost ? thanks

    Substitute for Sage?

DD reads cooking magazines and likes to watch cooking shows; lately she's been asking for Sage, which I haven't found in my local grocery. Any idea what to sub for the taste? She asked for thyme a while back, from the same shows and magazines, and we've been enjoying that. thanks

Do you wash your cookie sheets?

I use foil when I bake cookies, so I can't say that I wash ours .. at some point, though, when they start to set off the smoke alarm, I know it's time to replace them ! I can fit 2 cookie sheets at a time in the sides of our dishwasher, so I'm doing that over the next week or so. For the...

Fat versus broth in rice or couscous

I usually make chicken once a week or so, and if I bake thighs (rather than cutlets), there is always fat in the pan. Sometimes I add rice to the pan of chicken which my daughter loves - I guess because the taste of the chicken fat greatly enhances the taste of the rice. She eats rice and...

    Buying a little steamer/poacher

I have a big All Clad one that I love but it takes up a lot of room in the dishwasher and I don't always need such a big pot anyway; I see now that very sweet 3.5 qt steamers are sold - Caphalon (part of a set) and All Clad, but the steamer part doesn't go far into the pot; I guess it's more for...
