    Dinner Wednesday, February 28, 2024

I'm late to the party and I'm still first in line? Since we had another nice meal, I need to show off. :giggle: I made two meatloafs, one for us and one for Loverly and Company. Seeing as she is going to the dentist for a drill-and-fill, I hope she appreciates the soft food. We had potato...

    We're going home!

As many of you know, I've been wanting to move back to OH pretty much since we moved from there in 2000. Left kids and good friends behind. MA was supposed to be 12-15 years, followed by moving back after Himself retired around 2014. Getting laid off in 2011 threw him for a loop, and it took a...

    Well we bought a kitchen!

It just so happens that we get a house around it, too. After we return to MA and start to pack and move, I'll journal that. I just wanted to share some kitchen photos as a tease. As you come in from the garage and walk through the laundry room, this is what you would see... If you're at the...

    Supper Tuesday, 5-2-2023

We have a plethora of leftovers, so we'll be grazing for the next few days. I'm guessing most of you guys will be cooking, though. So what have you had to eat tonight?

    Dinner Monday, May 1, 2023

In lieu of dancing around the Maypole, I baked a ham. Since I already had the big oven going, I also roasted carrots, butternut squash, and twice baked potatoes. I would have put a pan of Brussels sprouts in, too, but this oven just won't fit as much as the old one. What did you have for...

    Monday supper 4-24-2023

I made garden salads for us, then followed that up with lasagna from my freezer stash. Those rectangular Chinese take-out containers with the black bottom and clear top sure are nice for two servings of leftovers! What did you end up with for supper on Monday night?

    Thursday, 4-20-2023 Dinner

Hey Hey Hey, it's "420 Day"! Did you have "special" brownies or spaghetti sauce for/with supper? :brows: Yeah, we don't do that sort of thing around here. Instead, I'll be featuring winter-type foods from the freezer in the attempt to clean them out before the weather decides it's warm weather...

    Mundane Monday, 4-17-2023

We had Naan bread pizzas. Himself's had pepperoni (always!), ham, mushrooms, and onion. I had mine in the style that Donato's Pizza used to make their Hawaiian pizza: ham, pineapple, slivered almonds, and a dash of cinnamon. Odd, but very tasty. What about you?

    Supper Wednesday, 4-12-2023

We had oven BBQ pork chops (extra sauce on the side), mashed potatoes, and Niblets corn. Butter Pecan ice cream. Definitely ice cream weather today! What did you have?

    Lemon Cream Scones

This recipe appeared in the Laura Childs mystery book "Lemon Curd Killer". I get some of my best recipes from murder mystery books. 2 cups flour 1/3 cup sugar 1 Tablespoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon lemon peel, grated finely (zest) 1 cup heavy cream 3 Tablespoons water...

    Friday Food 3-31-2023

Himself had leftover fish and chips from Wednesday, so he finished that tonight along with the leftover green beans and roasted carrots from earlier this week. I made a small batch of tuna salad so I could use the two little rolls we brought home from O'Connor's. I also made a bigger batch of...

Dinner Thursday, 3-30-2023 ~ PLAY BALL!

Today is a Holiday High Holy Day for @Andy M., and me - the first day of baseball season. :w00t2:The crack of the bat, the cheer of the crowd. The chance of snow in the air? What? So much for the Boys of Summer. We'll be having our traditional ballpark food supper of hot dogs and beer. Since...

    Wednesday, 3-29-2023 Supper

Was Wednesday a day of fasting? Or was it a day of slow...posting when it comes to the dinner thread. We had errands to run. Dropped off an entire cargo area+half a back seat of usable goods at the local Savers store (like a Goodwill or Salvation Army, but with good hours and actual help)...

    Tasty Tuesday 3-28-2023

We had...leftovers! I had ham, green beans, one of the stuffed potatoes I made yesterday, and baby Campari tomatoes. Himself finished up the Chlopski Posilek, then had a ham sandwich on the last Kaiser roll.

What's on your plate Thursday, 3-23-2023?

It was easy for me to have our supper "early" tonight since I did the bulk of the prep work last night. :giggle: I present you Chlopski Posilek: What did you have?

    Yogurt Rye bread

This recipe is from a bread machine recipe book. If you use a bread machine, add ingredients per your unit's directions. If you make this completely by hand, you'll know what to do. ;) As for my method, I use the bread machine in the "dough" mode, take the dough out when the machine beeps (1.5...

    I don't know about this...

I was checking out the headlines on my Yahoo news feed page, and my eyes spotted this NPR story: FDA gives 2nd safety nod to cultivated meat, produced without slaughtering I think I would rather transition to a vegetarian menu. What do you think about manufactured meat?

Dinner Monday, 3-20-2023 ~ Spring has sprung!

We had chicken and two greens. The chicken was from a recipe I clipped from a long-ago Penzeys' catalog. Called "North African style chicken", pre-cooked chicken chunks are seasoned with Berbere, cinnamon, and ground cloves. It's seared, then simmered in orange juice, red wine, and raisins. The...

    2-28-2023 ~ National Pancake Day...Again?

Didn't we have one of these recently? Or  has it been a year? Anyway, no pancakes here - although I would not have been opposed to wrapping batter around my blueberries. Instead, I had them in a spinach salad with walnuts, Monterey jack, and champagne vinaigrette. We'll be eating in courses...

    Dinner Wednesday 2-8-2023

The short quart of beef Bourguignon showed signs of defrosting slightly while it "vacationed" in the cooler. Use it or lose it, so it was our meal tonight. I served it over creamy mashed potatoes and alongside shredded, sautéed Brussels sprouts with a squeeze of lemon and a dusting of Grana...
