    What's for Dinner Tuesday, 1/10?

Allen - your stew sounds good to me! I would toss in some spices - maybe some thyme or a bay leaf or two. For us tonight we're having Shake n Bake Chicken Fingers with Mac N Cheese (out of a box - I know - but its a work night and I just don't want to make homemade) and broccoli.

    Oven BBQ Chicken

Thanks for the responses. I totally didn't even think of my crockpot for some reason. I think I'm going to go with letscook's method though...marinate it overnight and then cook it covered tomorrow.

    Oven BBQ Chicken

I'm thinking of trying this for dinner tomorrow night. I figure I'll buy a cut up chicken, slather some bottled bbq sauce on it and bake it in the oven. Served with some baked beans and coleslaw it should remind us of summer (which needs to be done every now and then when you live in a place...

Your Mom's (or Dad's!) best meal

My mom also made so many great things. Her ham dinners with ham gravy were among the best. Her bbq sauce for chicken on the grill. Lasagna, chicken divan, and no bake cookies were all great too. MMMM....this is making me want to move back home!

    Getting to know you.

    1. The best day of the week for me is....Sunday - the only day I get to wake up and spend the whole day with my hubby since he works Monday - Saturday 2. The best job I ever had was....Working in the paint department of Chase Pitkin (our local version of Home Depot) while a teenager/college kid...

    Freeze Leftover Turkey?

After Thanksgiving this year, we didn't have a chance to use up all of our leftover turkey. I divided it up, put it in ziploc bags and threw it in the freezer. Do you guys think it is still usuable? Can I just thaw it out in the fridge and use it in a tetrazzini or other type of turkey...

If you only had $5.00 what would you fix for a family of 4?

I've got another "poor supper" that has been in my family forever....my grandma served it, my mom served it, and now I serve it. A lot of people have never heard of it. Soupburgers - brown about a pound of ground beef, add two or three cans of vegetarian vegetable soup (depends on how far you...

    New Year's Resolutions

Good luck with whatever it is! My resolution is to pick up the guitar. I tried last year and only stuck with it for a couple of weeks before I got too busy and quit trying. I'm hoping to make more time for it this year. Also as always there's the lose weight and get in shape resolution...

    Crock pot question

This is interesting to me because my crockpot cooks "hot" too. I find that I have to cook things on low rather than high otherwise they dry out. I just use the low setting for the amt of time reccommended in the recipe for the high setting and it seems to work fine.

    Vanilla Velvet

    Stewed Tomatoes

I did a search and couldn't find what I'm looking for, so here's hoping someone can help. I'd really like a recipe for stewed tomatoes. My husband and I travel frequently to Amish country in PA and they are a staple on the smorgasboards down there. I even asked one of my Amish friends, but...

    What's Your Favorite Cooking Show?

I love almost all of the Food Network shows. My favorites are Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals and $40 a day (but she kind of annoys me so I have to take her in small doses), Paula Deen, Emeril, Alton Brown's show (I forgot the name), Iron Chef America, and Food 911 (I have a crush on Tyler)...

    Hi I'm New

Hi all, I'm new today to the forum and so far everyone seems so friendly. I just thought I would take a minute to introduce myself. I'm 28 years old, married, and no kids. My husband and I really like to entertain, but don't get to do it as much as we would like to. I love to cook and try...

    Need Help with Pre-Cooking Pasta

Hi, I'm new to this forum and need some advice. I'm hosting a small informal gathering for New Year's Eve which will include dinner. I like to serve things which can be made in advance so that I can spend time with my guests rather than be stuck in the kitchen. I also find it helps eliminate...
