Can you believe it's a new year in a couple of days. 2024 was a rough year. Hears to a great 2025!

I plan on baking a mini cheesecake and an apple pie for New Year's Eve/Day desserts.

My homemade British mince pies!😀 Turned out OK, very tasty, considering it was my first attempt! My daughter loves them, my son not so much, he's not keen on desserts/cakes with raisins in them😁.
I used to love eating them at Christmas in the UK, are they a US Christmas tradition, too?

They're not perfect, a bit wonky and crooked!
At least, that proves I really made them myself😁.

Loved the ones my mom made. Guess they were a bit of tradition with my family. Even though my Grandmother was American, did she pick it up here or did her family always have them - no idea.
Cross & Blackwell Mincemeat Filling for me! I've never made from scratch but used theirs. Haven't done for a while now. Guess I have to go and find some now!

This time I made Death By Chocolate, to use up 4 medium sized black bananas, and this time I added some walnuts, and some prunes, cut into thirds or quarters, depending on the size. I used half WW flour, and half white flour, and used an extra egg, and some crema (made almost 3 c recently, using the leftover heavy cream from Christmas), in place of the buttermilk or sour cream, for even more richness.

Coming from a pommie background, mince pies were a Christmas staple in our family. Every relative’s home that we visited during the festive season had mince pies.
All the womenfolk in our family would make their own pies and there always seemed to be an underlying competitive spirit there.
