I love sardines. Where did you find such great-looking filets? Mine are always tiny fishes.

Those are from my secret stash ;)
Actually, those were a little rattier looking than usual. They are Nuri sardines, from Portugal by way of Amazon :ROFLMAO:
Hand packed, no bones. Good sardines that have some size to them.

And if you are interested...

@pacanis That lunch looks amazing and the video is great! I need to up my Omega 3 intake. On your advice, I ordered a few cans of the sardines off of Amazon. And I will try the lunch shown in the video. (I had to view it on YouTube - worth it!)

My cans will not arrive until the end of the month, but prepare for a review after I can eat solid foods again. (I am getting a back molar implant around that time.)

Thanks for the info!!!

@pacanis I agree with @Kathleen. That does look good. Funny, YouTube translated all of it into Danish for me.

I'm just trying to figure out how a German got rye bread sliced that way, the right way IMO. The German rye bread that I buy is sliced the long way. :ermm: I mentioned that to my sister and she said that's how she has seen the rye bread sliced when she has been to Germany.

We went to First Watch for brunch and had eggs Benedict. It was a little different as it had spinach and no Canadian bacon, but was very tasty. They also are supposed to have avocado but the cook forgot so we had to request them after we were served. I got the tomatoes on the side as they usually come on it, but tomatoes in restaurants are often not ripe and are pale and flavorless. These were that so I didn't eat them.

I love First Watch, though not so much Craig. Their lemon ricotta pancakes are fantastic if they are still on menu. One of the specials for Fall was braised short rib eggs Benedict on ciabatta with arugula, lightly sauteed red onions, poached eggs and parmesan cream sauce. We both had that. I stole the idea and used some gammon I had cured for dinner, plus I caramelized the onions a bit.

Oh wow that sounds awesome!

I went to a First Watch for breakfast one time, and didn't care for the food. IIRC it was also rather pricey. I can't even remember what I had, it was that average. But, my idea of a good breakfast is bacon, eggs and hash browns at Waffle House.

I like it because they take breakfast food and lighten it/make it healthier by using fruit or salad like sides instead of potatoes or grits, though i think you can get potatoes if desired, but it's still really good. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I want the heavier/greasier food, but there are times I want a lighter touch. The nearest Waffle Houses here I won't go to, and I doubt you would either. I'll go to Denny's or IHoP before Waffle House. Yes, First Watch is pricier than diners, though even that is getting pricey here, at least anymore. It costs $40-50 plus tip here for the 2 of us now, even at a diner with me usually getting some type of breakfast and Craig a turkey club, though we do both bring home enough leftovers for another meal.

First Watch is just okay. Not bad, but nothing fabulous. At least for me. The acoustics in that place drive me up the wall. It's so dang noisy. I can't hear myself think, let alone hear the person I'm dining with (which is usually my boss) because that place is always crowded, no matter what time of day you go. But our First Watch is just one big open room with no noise barriers and you feel like you're sitting in a very noisy tunnel.

However, my favorite dish from First Watch is the biscuits & turkey sausage gravy & eggs. I get that almost every time. And they have great coffee.

We have 3 within 30 minutes drive time. I really prefer not to go to one because of the seating layout, seriously close quarters, and the noise. I've never seen a stand alone, they seem to use available spaces and pick their own decor.

Yep, I agree. The noise is aggravating. I'm not crazy about the seating arrangement, either.

Even Anthony Bourdain loved Waffle House ;)

My late husband loved that place and my son grew to love it as well. When my son and his cousin were young kids, and my son's cousin would spend the night here with him, my husband always went out early the next morning to get the boys Waffle House for breakfast.
