That is the problem I have getting pasta (of any type) from a rtesteraunt - they all seem to think that it HAS to be el dente.

I like my pasta (all types) soft and not chewy at all ... :)
I like pasta in Italian dishes softer and not al dente, but I like Asian noodles slightly crisp. Either way i don't like a doughy flavor.

I just liked the look of it and for no other reason.

No I didn't know it was a Nestles product or that Stouflers was either ....... Nestles is/was usually pretty good quality stuff from memory ....... ?????
You should try the Stouffers lasagna. It's better than Lean Cuisine.

My mother used to buy Gioia macaroni and boil it for 20 minutes. It's hard to believe she was full blooded Sicilian!

I had a leftover piece of the baked pasta thing I made a couple nights ago.

I had some Panda Express (American style Chinese) carryout that I jazzed up. Here's what it looked like when I got it:

I sauteed some jalapeno, red and orange bell pepper, onion, carrots, and red cabbage in a skillet:

Then I added some of the noodles and teriyaki chicken with more teriyaki sauce:

In a bowl with a drizzle of toasted sesame oil and black sesame seeds:

I have an opening for a cook .... :(:D

not the best burgers by far, i know, but at least in my opinion a good bit better than their notorious rival...

If I have to eat "fast food" then I too would prefer BK IF I have to!

I like Wendy's the best I think for overall best fast food in all categories. And Chick Fil A for their chicken sandwiches, but I do like Popeye's and Church's...maybe Popeye's chicken sandwiches are better, I would have to do a side-by-side comparison. Dairy Queen has pretty good chicken sandwiches. I don't like KFC's chicken very much. BK always looks better on the TV ads then it ends up looking and tasting when purchased, but the flame broiled is an improvement. Hardee's/Carl's Jr. are pretty good. McDonald's is at the bottom of the list.

The only fast food I ever get a craving for is a Whataburger or a Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich. I eat three or four of each in any given year, these days.

When I was in Houston last week, I grabbed a Popeyes chicken sandwich meal, with red beans and rice and iced tea (to reduce the caloric intake somewhat), and the cost was over twelve bucks!

Today (January 18, 2026) I had some leftover roast beast gravy over slices of homemade bread. It's something I knew of as "gravy bread" growing up and is still a favorite comfort food for me. Hit the spot since today has been viciously cold.

Growing up, gravy bread was mom putting red sauce on a slice of bread and then grated cheese on top.

Yours also sounds wonderful.

We don't have the "good stuff" in our area like DQ or Wendy's or any of the other "brands you mentioned" other than BK and macdougals. We do have an Taco Bell - but it is garbage and have just gotten the return of Pizza Hut which we like where pizza's are concerned.

Cripes - I worte the above last night BUT forgot to hit Post Reply ...

Toniht we are making Poutin, I think that is right. MY OH got the "proper Canadian Made Gravy" from - yep - Canada :)
