Never heard of Bisto. Where do you buy this? Sounds like something i need.

I believe it is in some Kroger stores here, and probably some other stores. It is a British product, so anyplace that has a good international section should have it. I know World Market carries it, and for a decent price. That's where I get it.

I just looked, and there are 4 locations in the Boston area.

You will probably want to doctor it up for flavor, but it is quick, easy and darn near foolproof.

Thanks! I’ll be off to look for it tomorrow

100% foolproof - just add boiling water and stir! The chicken one tastes good on it's own (if you're in a hurry) but the onion and the one for meat can be a bit bland but can soon be jazzed up a bit by adding the skimmed juices from the meat you're cooking!

I've only seen the beef one here. The others might be available online.

I only buy one type of Bisto and I don’t use it often but I’m never sorry when I do.

Mostly I use it as a shortcut when a dish is missing some umami and is in need of thickening and a bit of seasoning. It’s often indiscernible in the dish but certainly adds something. A good rescue remedy if something meaty is a slightly lacklustre.

I thought I was the only one using Bisto as a thickener! Whenever a recipe says to add some cornflour/water mix to thicken as required I ignore that and sprinkle some Bisto instead.

It's on offer at the Iceland Food Warehouse at the moment so I have a load coming in my delivery this evening - it's a cupboard staple in my house.

Blimey, that is a good offer.
Sadly they don’t have the Bisto Best Onion Gravy one and that’s the only one I really like.

I’m going to walk up to the Irish stores in my neighborhood to see if they sell it.

Otherwise, I’ll head to the World Market in Somerville. I think there is one in Hyannis, too. The last time I was in a World Market was in Chicago with my mom maybe 15 years and I bought so much stuff I had to borrow another suitcase to get it all back here.

Thanks Casey for pointing me in the right direction!
