Here's another way to go. This is an ad from one of the huge market chains here, where you can order your dinner on line & have it delivered for about $9.95, or pick it up at the market.

(I'm waving at BangBang re your post Take the Challenge...see what you think. Don't know if the markets in your neck of the woods offers something similar, but worth a look-see.) I may place an order. WISH ME LUCK.

Good enough for MY family! :?

Dad used to insist on getting the "Bird in a big Box" after the groceries started selling them some years ago. They save you time - but they also save you from enjoying pleasurable flavor.

I'm going shopping tomorrow .... I'll let you know what the total comes to then - but I bet I can do more with $30 than a boxed lunch with 2 sides!

Thanks crewsk. Would be interesting to see what offers are available around the country/world in your neighborhood. There are some interesting party platters available now as well, i.e. anything from cold cuts, cheeses, mexican platters, huge subs (for the big game New Year's - make a mental note to self), hams, etc., etc.

Foranyone who is planning for one or two & wants to save a lot of energy rather than throwing the bird around, & a million dishes on the stove...it's just one alternative. PLUS, you have leftovers & can make your own sides.

Placed my order for the dinner (should be here by noon). Also ordered fixin's for sides to make when I wish, turkey cutlets, potatoes, yams, stuffing stuff, brussel sprouts, pie, more cranberry sauce, etc. I have a pretty well stocked pantry & many ingredients already on hand. So, if I want to make sides, at my leisure, it's pretty good for my needs.

If you're not cooking for a big family, & want the basics, think it's not a bad deal. For about $10.00, I get everything/basic food shopping done & delivered, not just the bird. Crossing my fingers, & hoping for the best.
