I'm about >this close< to getting one to replace my current glorified toaster oven/air fryer. But that's a lotta dough.

I love my infomercial Emeril L toaster oven/air fryer. I had to replace the first one within a few months... but the second one has been doing OK for a few years maybe longer. It's got a few things that have popped up. Like the fan coming on for everything and it's now quite noisy. And it doesn't make toast like it used to. I think the lower element is on its way out. Still makes good frozen fries though. I never did like the broiler function. But I lived with it.

I know there are other combo units out there that are much less money, but the Breville I am looking at will do a 14lb turkey and hold a 5qt DO. And the DO part is pretty important to me, since my oven hasn't worked for years. Setting the DO on the grill indirect isn't as easy to control as you think it would be. I'd do better using my camping one and coals. It would be nice having an oven that works. If the dimensions I am seeing are correct, I'll even be able to set a No 8 Griswold in it.

Just looking for some real feedback and not relying on monetized youtubers.

what's that?

Looks like I'm boldly going on this one.

I know the somewhat comperable Cosori is supposed to have better temp control, in spite of the Breville having some sort of smart system. But I've seen some folks say it will hold a 5qt DO and others say not with the lid...

And I figure the larger interior size of the Breville will behave more like a normal oven anyway. Not to mention I can never see me using the Cosori's rotisserie... In spite of being cheaper, no sense paying for something I'll never use.

I was hoping we had more here using the toaster ovens with air fryers. If only to beat the heat of summer and using larger ovens that take longer to heat up and cook. But I guess that's what AC (air conditioning) is for ;)

We have a Breville Smart Oven Pro. It's been going strong several years now. The primary reason we got it was for the display. Visually disabled son is able to use the appliance to cook his lunch. We make sure to leave it on bake and he takes it from there.

I don't like:
Any of the toast options. Takes a ridiculous amount of time to toast bread.

I like:
The airfryer, broiler, and bake functions.

Never tried to fit a DO in there, but it will cook a 14" frozen pizza with no problem.

We bought an extra basket tray with it. That's been invaluable for air frying.

Good input .40cal.
I know there is a model slightly smaller than the one I am looking at, but I don't know when they went to the "90" series. The ninety is supposed to hold a DO.

The toast sounded like the major drawback. It's everybody's con. Unless you are just toasting four or under slices. But it still takes longer than a real slot style toaster. Can't be worse than my current toaster oven though. I'm hoping.

One comment before you order, if I'm not too late. When shopping for mine just awhile ago I had originally wanted a double door one. I never found enough reviews on them - and now I find them all over the place. There are several available with good ratings. Wish I'd bitten the bullet and gotten one.
all have air-fryers but I can't comment on them as I've never had one and do not know what I'm missing - if anything.
mine has a convection fan so I use it as such.
yes, toaster takes time but works out well since I've learned to time it when cooking my eggs.

I'd definitely go with the double-door ones as presently mine sits atop my micro wave. I come very close, dangerously close, to touching the hot door when it's pulled down for putting things in and out.

That's a good point about the French doors being able to swing out of the way.
My thoughts on them, without having used them, is I will need to keep the area in front of the doors clear for the doors to swing open. I imagine they would clear a plate, but I just don't know. And 90% of the time I keep the small plate I use for toast right in front of the TO.
My oven will be sitting right on the counter.

Plus I have a use for the bottom hinged door. If something is done to the point of me wanting to get it out of the oven right away, I'll drag it out and set it on the open door. As long as it's something that can't spill. Like fries or pizza slices. Something on a tray.

The only thing holding me back from ordering it already, is the thought of holding out til Black Friday in case it goes on sale.
But it could also increase in price by then, too...

I have never-ever rested anything on the door of an oven. Large or small oven. All too often they have a slight tilt to them, usually towards me!
As I don't have much of a 'kitchen' area I have to plan ahead where I'm heading with a hot tray/pot/etc.
Move your plate from below to on top of... 😁

Stack'em high!

Yeah, I suppose I could set it on top. With the baking trays and air fryer basket.
But the counter is more convenient ;)

My new TO will have a cutting board on top of it.
It will mean some shuffling on my counter, but I think it will be a welcome change. I rarely use my KA mixer anyway. Just often enough I don't want to "put it away" where I'll have to bring it out to use. It will go where my current TO is. And I'll be able to arrange my caffeine supplies better without the toaster oven there.

The cutting board is an accessory.
It has special feet to resist the heat and allow air flow.

I believe the new one will be too tall for under my cupboards. I know it's a lot taller than my current one.
So in my rearranging I figured the cutting board would be a nice option for setting stuff from either the stove or TO on.

Sounds good. The picture I posted actually has the rack from my last one to elevate the things above and allow air flow.

Yeah, I never throw out the toaster oven racks.
I'm like a hoarder that way, lol. And the pans make good pans for holding flour, breading or egg wash.

I went ahead and ordered it. Supposed to be here Sunday.

Well I will say, even though it is said to be a slow toast maker, it preheated to 375F for its initial shakedown cruise much faster than my smaller oven.

So far, the only downside I see, is the door lowers onto the handle of the crumb/drip tray. Which is accessible from outside the oven. I'm not sure why it is designed like that. If I pull the tray out a couple inches the handle is out of the way and the door opens and rests more normally. Like other toaster ovens. Or even conventional ovens.

Fixed it.
I had the crumb tray in upside down.
:dizzy:

I noticed it in a picture.
I installed the tray so the outside lip was turned UP. It made sense at the time. Thinking that the outside lip needs to be up to contain spills. Like a sheet pan. Like my old toaster oven.

But after closer inspection, the center of the tray on the opposite side has a depression. The depression holds any liquids. And also, that design would be much easier to keep clean. Shallow curves without sharp edges.

Well, my day is complete.
Now what am I going to do?
