I am looking for a recipe for Black Bread. I want the really, really black one that is also not very heavy. I have tried so many with so many different ingredients and they all come out like dark pumpernickle. I can't figure what ingredients to use that react to make it that dark. I would appreciate your help.

Maybe dark molasses ?

I put dark molasses, also unsweetened chocolate, bakers syrup, cocoa and instant coffee. I even mixed all of them together in one loaf:} Still no luck. It must be some kind of chemical reactions combo like in brownies.
