A friend of mine name Johnny Slider from Austin came up with this recipe. I was going to call it a Bloody Johnny but that just didn't sound right. So I came up with a name that sounds more in keeping with this spicy south of the border version of a Bloody Mary.

1 16 oz. bar glass half filled with ice cubes
2 shots (3 oz.) good quality vodka
1 squeezed lemon wedge
1 shake of black pepper
1 dash of Worcestershire sauce
1 to 3 dashes of Tobasco sauce depending on your courage
2 shakes of Cavendish Greek seasoning
1/8 teaspoon of horseradish (prepared)
1 shake of seasoned salt (preferably Lawry's)

and enough V8 juice to finish filling the glass

Stir mixture thoroughly and add a lightly salted stalk of celery.

This sounds real tasty and quite spicy, just the kind of drink I'd like. But I'd let your friend Johnny keep the name he chose.

A Bloody Maria is a Bloody Mary made with tequila instead of vodka.

How this this not just a Bloody Mary? It sounds delicious, but it sounds exactly like a Bloody Mary. Am I missing something?

I agree with Silversage that a Bloody Maria is a Bloody Mary with tequila instead of vodka. They are delicious as well.

Johnny never gave it a name and I massaged it subtly but you can call it anything you want. Or nothing at all. My only intent was to share a very good recipe with everyone.

This is pretty much what I do, except for the Greek seasoning, when in the mood for a Bloody Mary.

I never called the tequila version a Bloody Maria. Thats cleaver. I just refered to them as Tequila Marys. GB, somehow I knew you knew about the merits of this drink.

You know me well BD. Actually, I like your name (Tequila Mary) better than Bloody Maria. I think I just may start calling them that.
