I want to simmer a skinless boneless piece of chicken in low fat chicken broth for extra flavor. If I took the chicken out before we ate the broth would it add calories to the broth? If so can anyone guess how many?

i think the broth is fairly low in calories. i would just leave chicken in. not many calories in yet either. check out a store and read the calorie count on there. that would give you a ball-park figure.

thanks

Thanks Babetoo. I think you're right. The extra flavor it can add pretty much out weighs the added calories.

Thanks again!:chef:

you'll be in the clear. chix broth is so low in fat there's like a trace amount, they skim broth or chill then remove the solidified layer of fat. so that's usually only around 20-ish kcals.
the addition of a chixbreast isn't gonna extract much, that's a solid piece of meat that's also nominal in fat content.
plus you're removing that from the broth.
