a lot of Brunswick stew

the sun rises on a beautiful location, La Belle Amie Vineyard...

sliced through a butt and found a smoke ring

chopping the butt...Crystal loves doing it...don't ask me why...
I think she thinks about men in her life when she's doing it.

making a couple of bucks...

here's the line of people standing in front of my booth to get food
from the concession trailor next to me!!!

here's the girls up front...I kept my ugly ass in the back...

worked my tail off from 4am till 6 pm...grand profit of 250 bucks,
olus some usable inventory left over...

in other words, I got paid in experience...and I learned a lot.
Had a blast.

Cappy,

How many food vendors did they have at the event? What was being served in the trailer?

Well, looks like you had a good time, food looked great! You know how those wine people are  !

The guy in the hat is Jamie from Road Kill Grill, a team that competes on the SC circuit....super guy who has tons restaurant/food experience.
His q meat is the best I've ever tasted.

I will do it again...I learned a lot about selling food to the public as opposed to catering. I need to offer something sweet. Food quality
is less important than in catering. Profit margins are. Ease of preparation is essential.

There was some advice I was told (not here) that put me at a disadvantage with the other 2 vendors. I'm not complaining, but
I learned a little something.

Also, they looked a lot better than I did. I looked like an amature.
Those guys had spent the bucks on multiple tables, matching banners
and decorations that I didn't. And I think from the public point of view,
they felt safer with the other 2 guys. I don't feel bad towards any body.
I just think I'm going to have to spend a good bit of money if I want to continue doing this.

Jim I thought Crystal was gonna serve topless?? Geez, that would have raked in the bucks!!

Glad you had fun doing it!!!

Those pics were taken late in the day when it turned cool. Earlier, there
was enough cleavage to make me forget how many pans of beans we had on the pit. Opened 2 more big cans that I ended up throwing away.

I will say this....Jamie (the big guy), the 3 chicks and even my boss at the station who spent a couple of hours serving saved me from losing my ass.
Two of the gals refused to take money from me. Don't get me wrong,
we were all having a good time and enjoying the festival, but they were all valuable.

Jamie never went to bed Friday night...he stayed up, met me there at
4 am and the plan was for him to stay till chopping time, then he'd leave.
The girls would be there to serve and I'd handle all the back area.
He stayed till breakdown time and helped me load the van.
And then told me I was paying him too much. And then 2 of the girls wouldn't take money at all. I am blessed to have such friends. And I don't take that lightly. As Jimmy Stewart once said, "I'm the richest man in the world."

Now if they'll just show me the boobies.

Except for Jamie.

The pics don't do them justice...

I should point out now that the butts (boneless) had a wonderful
smoke ring....on my gas smoker. And no, I didn't use the rigged-up
smoke assist thingy I made.

Just sayin....

Nick, no skirt from Owens steel yet. I won't be calling for it. if they
call me saying it's ready, I'll wait a few weeks before I pick it up.

I followed Chiles recipe for the 20 gallon pot...all I did was add Rev Marvins sauce to it at the end, to taste.

His recipe is in the poultry section. It's easy and good, just got to let to let it all cook down together.
