hello everyone, actually I was active for a couple of years back in 2005, 2006 or so, my memory escapes me how it happened but I sort of fell out of the community. now the forum occurred to me and became curious how the community has evolved. I am still the same foodie, I suppose the country where I live in educated me about the relative topic a great deal. hoping to reconnect with y'all. all the best for 2025 and beyond.

You must be from southern Italy.
actually I hail from the US of A, and I don't think Rome is considered to be in the south, but compared to the glorious South Tyrol in the middle of the Alps, I suppose it's much "souther" than Trentino Alto Adige, Piemonte or even Emilia Romagna. despite its grandiose history (witnessed everywhere if you choose the right position), it can be messy, dirty shady corners which you would be wise to avoid, full of loud, impatient & testy folks, if you are a first time visitor it would be wise to stick to a personal guide who knows the city well. having said that if you choose the itinerary well, the eternal city is sure to offer you an unforgettable, exciting experience.

thank you for the kind feedback and making me feel welcomed, while I don't remember too many members but the few I do, buckytom and Alix, and Andy M., I think you were one of the modelators?

buckytom comes and goes every once in awhile. Alix, haven't seen her since 2022. Hoping all is well with them - they were and are great contributers to this forum!

Andy's still here - I keep slamming the door but he has big boots jammed in there. 🤭
awww com'on Andy, you know I'm just kidding....

Welcome back to Discuss Cooking. Do you remember your old user name?
thank you for your warm welcome back, but as to my old handle, sadly no, I took a wild guess and created the new one as dolcetta46, because I thought it could have been my old one here. (I am a long time Valentino Rossi fan, so 46) so were you also from the same period?

Thank you @caseydog and @Jade Emperor. 🤗

Ciao @dolcetta46, nice to meet you, I live further South, Campania - my origins, but I was born and bred in the UK. I've been here thirty years now so am totally "italianized" when it comes to cooking! 🤣

Italianised? whoa, complimenti. my Roman OH is highly dubious when it comes to the British gastronomy, we must try our best to convince him. how about a hunk of Cottage pie to start with?
