I just bought some corn husks I want to use for tamales (I've bought several times from this brand), but this time I opened up the package and whoosh they smell like vinegar. Are these husks bad and I should throw them?
The bag was slightly slightly damp when I brought it home and opened it up. Some other husks felt cold/damp maybe slightly but looked fine. I've never noticed this smell before, but I hear that tamale corn husks are sometimes soaked in a vinegar solution then dried/packaged to prevent mold. I am not Mexican!
I also don't wanna go through the tamales work then have moldy tamales.
Happy day after Thanksgiving everybody!
