I have a hard time reconciling a 2 or 4 hour trip for a mouthful of bread with a bit of cold cuts, mayo and tomato/cheese stuffed into it. I hope at least you're not talking 2 & 4 each way! Please!?

Well, okay. For you, but I do think Taxy claimed shotgun. The backseat is roomy, but we should all pack light!

Ok. I'll have to remember to bring Klondike bars.

The Mini Cooper is ready to roll.

I'll give taxy first dibs on Shotgun... but I get it next... better still - I drive! (sorry Frank, you stay home with the kitties)
We had a Mini Cooper SS - loved it- could amazing things! and unbelievable space with 2 kids and huge suitcases!

A friend also had one. We would tandom on clover leafs. So amazing, always wished we had a mounted camera to take pictures of other drivers faces. 🤪😇

The closest Long John Silver's is now about a 3 hour drive away, in Portland. Don't think I haven't considered a road trip down there. I love their fish.
No Long John Silver's around me. Used like the chicken planks and the crumbles. Arthur Treacher's was better. But those are long gone. :(

Never liked Waffle House. We stopped there when driving to FLA. Only once. That was enough for us. We like Cracker Barrel, Perkins, IHop, Denny's or Shoney's better.

Funny thing, I find Cracker Barrel and Shoney's to have terrible food -- especially Shoney's. IHOP and Denny's are okay with me. I don't think I've ever been to a Perkins.

Well, since you insist, where do you want to go? :D The Mini Cooper is ready to roll.

I had a MINI CooperS for about seven years. (y)

Don't know which mini ours was other than the SS. Somehow my husband never mentioned SS to the insurance - saved a few bucks as they would charge more for sports models.

Well, it must have been a CooperS, since a MINI SS doesn't exist. Never has. ;)

BTW, the insurance companies use the VIN to determine what the car is, and how much to charge for it in premiums. They can use the VIN to know what make, model, year and many of the options on the car. They know people lie to them all the time, and ignore everything they say and go by the VIN.

In Texas, the State uses the VIN to determine the sales taxes on a pre-owned car. They got tired of people saying they paid $5,000 for their one-year-old BMW. :ROFLMAO:

Cooper S, OK I'll take that but it was also after Expo 67, so 69? maybe even '70? and we bought it 2nd hand - so I really don't remember. About the only two who would remember are now gone so can't even check.
We just called it a Mini.

What was the first Mini Cooper S?

Back in 1963, Mini realized how successful its 997 Mini Cooper was on the track and figured they could take it up a notch: the then 1071 cc Cooper S was born. In fact, the plan was to only ever use this engine for racing. But it seems the regular road drivers just couldn't resist its power.

What made them so fun to drive was not so much the power, but the power to weight ratio of the cars. They weighed so little. The new generation MINIs weigh more, because they are larger and meet modern crash-testing standards. But, they also have larger engines with turbochargers. The power to weight ratio is still very good.
