I took a 1-inch-thick boneless pork chop and doused it seriously in paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, Emeril's Essence, along with a bit of salt. Browned it on all sides in butter, then removed it from the heat and added some coarsely chopped onion and let the onion get happy before putting the chop back in to finish. I served steamed kernel corn with butter and salt as our side. A few chocolate-chocolate pudding cookies took care of the rest.

What is/was on your menu tonight?

I'm totally turkey'ed out. Turkey pot pie with the filling too loose. Cranberry sauce that has not yet lost its appeal. But...I am done with turkey for a while.

I got a frozen pepperoni pizza (Red Barron), and doctored it up with homegrown fresh basil, ParmReg, and EVOO. It was quite tasty, but I accidentally got regular crust, instead of thin. It was still a good pizza, but not quite as crisp on the bottom.

I've been moving my basil plant in and out of the garage during these cold nights we are having. I don't think this one will last all winter. It is very leggy, and I'm getting a lot of black patches on the larger leaves.

I never bother with indoor basil plants during the winter, they would never survive night temperatures in our large open spaces. In my mum's cosy, small apartment in town however, they do, the whole environment stays relatively warm night and day.

I made a nice bolognese sauce at my cousin's house tonight. I had bought some fresh basil and oregano plants from Home Depot that were huge and at a good price. Turned out great with fresh herbs.

My plant made it all the way through last winter, sitting in my kitchen window, which faces South, so it got enough sun. The one I have this year grew very tall, and now it is struggling to stay standing, as it is very leggy, which makes it weak, and unable to support a lot of leaves.

It happens to all basil plants, eventually. This one just grew very tall, very quickly, so it is not likely to last a lot longer.

Sweet potato, potato, parma/rapini sausage. Stuck an olive in the middle for colour as I forgot to do the green beans. 🤭
Very tasty.

Sausage was completely frozen, wasn't sure how it would work but they all cooked together just fine. Only had to pop the potato back in for about 5 minutes or so, it was whole. The Sweet potato was halved, thinking that's why it came out perfect.
Good to know (all at 375º) about 45 min.(?)
