Most every forum I frequent has a "Controversial" sub forum.
I do my best to stay far away from them. Since I have nothing good to say. I don't say anything at all.

I'm not a fan of politics myself.
ALL of them are liers by trade but for whatever reason people seem to love some but hate others....when they are ALL lies.

I don’t even want to see politics show up in an off-topic thread. DC is my safe place where I can escape all that.

No, different places have different rules. You haven't found the place that runs things the way you want them to be run. Why do you think that you shouldn't have to follow the rules of a group? How does that miss the point? Do you want people to be allowed to make death threats? That is often the kind of thing that is against the rules.

The internet is vast. It sounds like you want everyone to run it the way you want. But, some of us prefer not to have the trolls and haters in every place we go on the internet. I want some of those more restrictive places, like here. I don't want to deal with the ugliness. Have you tried Twitter recently? Isn't Elon Musk letting everyone "express themselves", promoting "free speech"? I want choices for all of us, not just the people who want to say whatever hateful thing that pops into their minds.

You are correct. I have no idea what you want to bring. But, I know that the community rules here, keep this place mostly friendly. No one has ever threatened me here. No one has told me that I am a lower grade of human being for any reason of race, heritage, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

"the internet" is not a single thing run by a small group of people. There are plenty of places where you can "talk freely" about whatever you want. You'll probably have to find it yourself, though.

The name of this forum is Discuss Cooking. You are correct that we are not interested in anything you have to offer outside of cooking. That's why we are here.

If you believe in the conspiracy theory that the "Internet" is run by "someone", then I have a bridge to sell you. The internet is run by no person or group. Individual websites are run by individuals. Go find a site run by someone who want to talk to you. Try forumsforums.com - they like to talk about politics and conspiracy theories.

Most of those groups have left forumns anyhow, and moved to Reddit, Twitter, and other more contemporary vehicles. You might be happier there.

It sounds to me like you don't really know what "the internet" is. But anyway, you're right - no one here wants to discuss politics here because that's not what this site is about.
