Do you make Subs (Hoagies, Heros, Grinders, etc) at home?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.

Spent 4 years in Philly, which is where I was introduced to my first " Hoagie". Been making them ever since.
- Hoagie roll sliced in 1/2 ( sesame seeds preferred, but thats just me
- Shmear of mayo on both open sides of the bread
- Layer of provolone
- Sliced tomatoes
- Sliced pickles ( but crappy pickles like you'd get on a Mcdonalds burger)
- Shredded Lettuce
- Sliced red onions
- Hot peppers ( I prefer sliced pepperoncini peppers)
- Sweet Peppers
- Vinaigrette dressing ( I prefer Good Seasons)
- Back in Philly, they would sprinkle some oregano on it

Jersey Mike's has the closest thing I've found down here to a Philly/South Jersey hoagie.

But I also love a nice, big fluffy biscuit with butter and honey.

:-p

I keep some of this in the fridge at all times.

Oh my goodness. Must. Get. Some.

Er... can you buy it online?

*runs to check*

Thanks, CD (y)

I found all of Whataburger's sauces at Amazon, but not the honey butter. I don't know why. If you can't find it, and really want some, send me a PM. Maybe we can do a trade for something I can't get here that I really love... Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets.

BTW, their ketchup is amazing.

Believe it or not, I found the honey butter at Walmart.com.

Never heard of Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets

Though outsiders call Ct. part of New England, New Englanders do not. They're really part of NY. They are Yankee fans! Can you imagine?
CT. is part of my tri-state area - NJ, NY, CT. Most people think PA is part of this tri-state are. BUT it's NOT.

So what is the tri-state area for Vermont? Used to listen to the weather from Burlington VT and they always said "for the tri-state weather"....

Sort of misleading. Poor Arkansas is sided by eight states.

From where I was born, it was VA-TN-KY. Now it is DEL-Mar-VA (DE-MD-VA).

It generally defines the part of the state in which you live.

LOL... on first reading I read
Vantuckey = affected southern for Kentucky
and then
Del Mar Rey (as in beach?) = Del Mar VA

and I thought WoW - she has quite the accent!

I used to go to NYC a lot for business. I stayed in Brooklyn, because I would have to drive to Long Island, Newark and to Connecticut while there. Besides, I like Brooklyn.
