I think it is true that food you haven't eaten in a long while tastes better. But, it has to be something you like. I have tried things that I disliked after a long gap and disliked them even more.

Asparagus. I hated it as a kid, but my mom bought canned asparagus and cooked it to death. The first time I had fresh, steamed asparagus at a restaurant in Dallas, I thought, "Where have YOU been all my life." :ROFLMAO:

Off topic, but you reminded me of the boxer, Butterbean. I've never been into boxing, or any other fighting sports, but Butterbean cracked me up. The ultimate underdog. :ROFLMAO:

You can get the picture in the first minute of this video, no need to watch it all...

In the Marines we called Lima Bean C rations Ham and Mf*****'ers.
We'd be driving down a road in Viet Nam and kids would run behind the truck asking for C Rations.
They loved beanie wienies, spaghetti and meat balls but if we tossed them Ham and Lima Beans they'd throw them back at us.

@skilletlicker didn't you post that video once before? I've seen it and really enjoyed. As grumpy says... a real toe tapper.
I probably did, maybe fifteen years ago. That song was on the Carolina Chocolate Drops' first album called Genuine Negro Jig, which was hugely popular, won Grammys, and blew me away.
If you enjoy that kind of music you might want to listen to more of that album and their other work. The group has dispersed, but its original members remain active. Rhiannon Giddens, a trained operatic soprano now living in Europe, is the most well-known. The guy playing Jug and Bones is Dom Flemons.

LOL, well skillet, then I guess it wasn't you! I'd joined 3 years later. Must have come across it somewhere. I remember I did access some of their other stuff.
I like music but don't have it playing at any particular times. Now-a-days it is very rare and quite random.

Maybe an old thread got revived after you joined and you found it there.

Personally, I  lima beans. Any holiday table I am involved with will have a big bowl of my Sufferin' Succotash on it.

Casey, my husband hated asparagus (a.k.a. "mossy logs") because his mother, who was a lazy and poor cook, only served canned asparagus and never understood fresh vegetables existed. When I prepared fresh steamed asparagus for the first time, he took a spear and ate a tiny piece. Then he ate a whole serving and asked if we could have that again! Bless his heart, over the years he has learned food is to be enjoyed, not just forced down!

My wife loves asparagus.
I introduced her to White Asparagus, dunno if it's any different other than fresh picked at a local roadside produce stand and blasting with flavor, but with some mayo,, UMMMMM!
