Chef Paul Prudhomme's chicken and tasso jambalaya. Not pretty, but good.

Frank made pork chops in the sous vide before searing. I had some string beans and potatoes that were begging to be used. Salad and cornbread (with scallions.) Frank had mashed potatoes because he does not like green beans. Also, the home-canned applesauce. I wish my china/dish pattern made divider plates...

I made pizzas. I didn’t take any pictures, sorry.
I have been working on my partner to teach him what I do in the kitchen. I have been told by my doctor that I don’t have a long time left, so I am putting it all together to make sure everything is going to move along once I am gone.
Having MrJade be ready to cook lovely food for himself is a goal.

OMG, did I miss a post somewhere? I'm so sorry.

I use a lot of Caputo products because I have a lot of trust in them. My pasta, pizza and cake flour is from their range, and never disappoints.
So too their powdered yeast. Very good.
So my pizza base always turns out nice and thin (my preferred way) and I use the tray with the holes. I used to have a big stone at the restaurant, but it is impractical in my home.
My pizza is still far better than anything I could buy as takeout.

How do you get your crust to be really thin? I love thin crusts.

How is Mr. Jade taking to cooking?

Oh, I think I mentioned it in passing some long time ago.
It’s not a big deal in my eyes. We all come and go.
I had my moments when I was first diagnosed, but you come to deal with it and I have decided to have the best time for however long that is!

I have a friend who was diagnosed with something or the other and they gave her 7 years. A year and a half later, she's telling me she'll be gone next month. She feels the same way you do, but I have to say, it's still really hard on the rest of us.

But then...my friend told me that by saying when I reached her next month, she'd be dead. So I had to email her back asking what was with this reaching her? Was I going to be channeling a medium? Fortunately, my friend has a great sense of humor and just laughed and laughed.

My mother was given six months to live. Dad was once told that he had "weeks." My sister and I would tell them both that neither had an expiration date on them. Mom lived for 19 years past her expiration date. Dad lived 6 years after his. I miss them both so very much.

@Jade Emperor I don't know you, and do not know your situation. But there is no expiration date on you either unless you had one sadistically tattooed on. (We were waiting for my mother to do that...and had enough sense of humor that we would have appreciated her joke if she had done so, but I digress.) Like others, if and when you cross the line before us, we will all miss you too. It's great that you are getting Mr. Jade ready. However, there is no guarantee that you won't outlive him or the rest of us. 🫂 Oh and, if you outlive me, I fully expect you to cater my wake. You make awesome things!

@Jade Emperor my grandfather lived a couple of decades longer than the doctors expected him to. My BIL lived weeks instead of the year or so they expected him to. You know you. With that said, there's absolutely nothing wrong in putting into place plans to make it easier on your family.

This is a difficult conversation for me. A week ago today one of my best friends passed. I was trying to get back to see her but delays kept happening and our last conversation 2 days before she told me not to bother, she would be gone before I could get there. She rode her horse up to a year ago then he passed, cooked, sewed, did swim gym all up to about 6 weeks before. It all caught up to her then. Even knowing for more than 2 years it is still hard to accept. She was a gracious, accepting and loving person. Rest in Peace my friend - I know you and Saavy are riding over the Rainbow Bridge together again.
and now back to supper before my keyboard shorts out from the moisture dripping on them

Having eaten the mushrooms around maybe 2 pm (?) not super hungry for dinner. Ended up munching on a bunch of cauliflower, broccoli and some red peppers dipped into a saucer of cucumber salad dressing. Quite satisfying.

I had another serving of the chicken stroganoff on brown basmati rice. This time I had it with roasted broccoli. I didn't take pix of the stroganoff, it looked the same as yesterday. I did get a picture of the roasted broccoli. It was good, but I would like to kick it up a notch, but not with cheese.
