Glass top stoves

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Try Amazon if it is a pan you already have. Prices have changed since I got mine. Maybe yours will be a lot cheaper. Or any piece of scrap metal the size you need. But they work really well!
I have 3 sizes.
I have one of those, but it really slows down the cooking process for some reason. (That's PROcess to you, PRAHcess to me!)

I'm interested, show me. Right now I have a rubber mat that covers the entire top of the stove and I have my induction burner sitting on it.

I mostly just use the induction burner, unless I need more than one pan at the same time or the pan I need in not induction ready. Still haven't found a 5-inch fry pan with a lid that is induction ready.
The original material is called ’bake o glide’ can be bought pre- cut in circles or as a sheet. It maintains conductivity. Goes up to 250c (480f) so you can shake your pans without wincing 😂
Well that’s what it claims, I’ve not actually tried it.
I’d like to though. I have to use an induction hob elsewhere and I do not enjoy having to be careful 😆

Type ‘Bake O Glide induction hob protector’ into your search engine and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I would provide a link but they’re all UK ones, US results would better serve you.

If you get some please let me know how it goes.

It did take longer to heat - but I learned to preheat the disc without the pan on - then put the pan on the hot surface.
My use of the induction top is opposite - I only use it when I need another burner and or all the other circuits are in use and I'm afraid to blow another breaker.

and no, my son will not rip out the walls to change the wiring.

Amazon has it. Amazon is like Barbie. That bitch has EVERYTHING! I don't have an induction stove, just one hot plate type induction burner, so I don't need it.

I just remembered I was supposed to be reporting back after using Bar Keeper's Friend on my hob instead of my usual HG Hob Cleaner. BKF was not great. It got rid of some of the general mess, but without an awful lot of elbow grease, wasn't going to get rid of the burnt on potato water. So I went back to HG to finish the job.

Good to know. Thanks for the update.

Well that’s too bad … about my recommendation

My wife got so much crap on our stove around Xmas that I had to take the razor blade and then liquid BKF. It’s gleaming.

had to take the razor blade
With mine - it isn't so much any food it is the "burn ring" around the hobs that annoys me .... even the razor blade, dawn power spray and a scratchy pad thing doesn't remove it. I geuss I am stuck with it - at least it doesn't effect the cooking so that is a plus, it is just the look that annoys me.
