You could add them to a crock pot of pinto beans. Pork Hock and Beans
4 cups pinto beans for a full crock.

I'd recommend that they be added after the pintos have soaked, usually overnight. Then drain and rinse the pintos.
Add the hocks to the crock, with the pinto beans, add water, just enough to cover the beans and hocks.
set it to high, and start cooking.
If I were to use a Ham hock in a pot of beans,I'd tone down my seasonings to just the basics. Salt, pepper, garlic cloves, and onions, powdered, or freshly chopped.Whatever you happen to have.
Taste and season as you go.
It's done when the beans are tender.Us usually in 4 to 6 hours.

Munky.

Flavoring almost all soups and beans that are slow cooked, as previously mentioned. I am especially fond of using them for my crockpot beans.

That's another name for Ham Hock. I cook them in Split Pea Soup, Black Eyed Peas, Red Beans, any kind of beans, actually. Also great in a big pot of collard greens, or mixed mustard and turnip greens. Usually the hocks are proportionally a flavoring ingredient rather than the main.

Can't help with the crock pot part. I don't use one.
