decided we wanted something quick and easy for supper last night and decided on burgers and fries . we were both hungery so we both wanted 2 burgers the problem was we only had 2 hamburger buns in the house , so we decided to make double meat burgers . right about now i should tell you that in my 69 years i had never eaten a double meat burger ,and thats when the trouble started the meat was 1/4 lb patties that come frozen in a box , they look nice and flat so i thought it shouldn't be a problem .......WRONG !! on the bun i put mustard on the top 1/2 and mayo on the bottem 1/2 put the 2 patties on and added a dab of ketchup on top of that i added a slice of onion and then some ice burg lettece then added the top 1/2 of the bun , then things started getting interesting , that thing looked 6 inches tall in my eyes , where do i bite it ? after staring at it a bit i just went for it , bit it on the bottom 1/2 , thats when the onion shot out and landed on my fries , not to be out done i took a bit from the top , thats when the lettice shot out and landed on the table , while all this was going on my dear wife was just sitting there about to bust a gut laughing . i picked up my slice of onion and gathered up my now soggy lettice dripping with ketchup and gave it another try , it didn't turn out much better , i swear trying to keep that damn onion and lettice on the burger was like trying to hold on to a greased pig , at that point i gave up went to the kitchen grabbed a knife and fork and cut that sucker up and ate it that way......i will never try to eat a double meat burger again !!!

Love it! Thank you. I'm sitting beside your wife and my cheeks are aching in a grin just watching you!

When I think of all those pictures/videos with people bragging of hamburgers sooo tall only a hippo could possibly bite into it, you hit the nail on the head. Knife and fork!

ps.
When I buy frozen burgers I also buy buns at the same time (those flat ones - don't care for the original types).
I will divi everything up and wrap individually. One patty, one bun - into a sandwich baggie. The patties are usually in paper separators so I make sure they are in too.

So even should I use a patty without a bun - rather have an extra bun hanging around than nothing for a patty!

Yup, and I always say: I don't care if you laugh with me or at me (for my antics) just so long as you're laughing, that's good enough for me!

i have always said , when you can no longer laugh at yourself ...its time for the grave

Thanks for the laugh. Here is a tip for eating oversized burgers... cut them in half. It really helps. Cut in half, and eat from the pointy corners.

Thanks for the laugh. I feel your pain.

I would probably serve one burger patty on each half of the bun and then eat it as open faced sandwich. I might resort to using a fork and knife.

I do that with Montreal smoked meat sandwiches. If the resto doesn't make them too tall for me to eat as served, then they don't know Montreal smoked meat tradition and I'm not going to trust that the flavour of the smoked meat is up to my standards.

yea me and that damn onion made a mess , i would bite one side of the burger and it would jump out the other side , i think it and that dang lettuce was conspiring against me , i still think my wife greased them both when i wasn't looking !!
