Halloween a New challenge (not a contest)...

October is upon us, so let's do a new challenge. Halloween Food.

As with my last challenge, there are no rules, other than you enter something Halloween related. It can be a tasty treat, or something made from pumpkin, or anything else that says "Halloween!" to you.

No winners, no losers. Just have fun!!!

Very nice, but made in 2016? No rules, but I'd like to see people enter new stuff. Make new batch... and send some to me.

Wow, this has stalled out. My feelings are hurt. Well, not really, but if it will guilt some people into entering, I'll use it.

I am willing to double the prize money for the winner, which means nobody will win double of nothing.

I'll admit that I've neglected this challenge, too. I have to spend a week in Houston during the remaining days of this challenge (pathetic plea for sympathy), but will try to come up with something to enter.

I don't really do anything for Halloween. I hate the flavour of pumpkin, so...

I don't even get kids trick or treating anymore. I used to put on a black blouse and skirt and a pointy black hat to hand out treats.

My only hope for this challenge is that there are some old people with grandchildren that they love enough to make homemade treats for them. Or maybe as JD Vance says, we are a nation of childless cat ladies. But, to be honest, I'd accept cat treats at this point. Of course, to JD Vance, cats are treats in Ohio. I'd make dog treats for my mother's dog, but she's already too fat -- the dog, not my mom.

I've been so busy trying to get those chicken coats and dragon's egg done... (no excuse, just stating a fact)
Honestly I have still been thinking about it in the back of my head!!

Not edible but a couple of years ago, I saved some blown out white egg shells. Partially filled them with flour, taping the hole over with a piece of white/clear tape. Had the kids draw ghost faces on them. Then outside had them throw the ghost eggs at a target chalked on the driveway. It was great fun!

Don't fill the eggs too full of flour - otherwise the "smoke" as the ghost explodes is too heavy. Gets a better effect with less.

Again, not food but popsicle sticks glued together, painted, googly eyes, rainy day project.

Found it! a picture from before the kids did theirs, I did a couple to get them started.

Ah Ha! found some food done several years ago.

Sugar Cookies. I outlined some to help them use the more liquidy icing for filling.

this cookie recipe is great for cutting shapes and a lot less sweet than conventional sugar cookie dough. Matter of fact not even sure why the author called them sugar cookies as you almost need the icing to make them just perfect.
Makes a lot of cookies! I use it for Christmas cookies too.

BTW, grandparents don't have to be old people by today standards of "old people". When I was in my late 30s and worked for H&R Block, I had client who came in with her daughter and grandchild. Then I saw the grandmother's age. She was younger than me.
