I registered here because I want to delve into cooking profession. The idea is I don't have any university or college background. I have some experience from Taco Bell, but isn't something I'm proud of.

The topics here are really complicated. I'll start a cooking course soon, but till that moment want to try some simple recipes.

Can I find newbie recipes on this forum?

Hello and Welcome to DC Ralf Pi.

Some recipes, although not more difficult, may seem that way because there are so many steps and or ingredient.

Why don't you pick a subject, stick to that one, read all you can on it, then jump into the kitchen and try it.

Example: Read the recipe, read it again (out loud even!) as you are reading it, visualize the ingredients, and visualize what you are doing. Then gather all your ingredients, measure out and prep them all, and only then start the actual cooking process. - You'd be surprise how well this works. Keep the recipe near at hand and refer to it often.

Never eaten at Taco Bell so don't quite know what their process is, but take note - Not everything is slammed onto a hot grill and shoveled around til ready. More often than not medium heat is the answer in the pan. Even boiling vegies - go ahead and bring the water to a roiling boil, then turn down to a slow boil. (there are a few exceptions) Temperature will not change, it is still the same but boiled over pots are not as easy to clean, nor is the stove top.

Hi and welcome to Discuss Cooking [emoji2]

I went to culinary school for five weeks (I had to withdraw for medical reasons - but I got to keep the knife kit! [emoji16]) and the first, most basic thing you will learn is knife skills. Get some garlic, onions, carrots, and potatoes and start practicing, then use those ingredients to make a dish. Soup is a simple meal that uses all of them. Here's a recipe I posted some time ago: https://www.discusscooking.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88674

Here's a video on basic knife skills:

That should get you started.

Welcome to DC.

It's was to get discouraged when learning to cook. Take it slowly and practice. You can learn the techniques and then you'll pick up speed as you practice. You'll get it.

Welcome to Discuss Cooking Ralf. What kinds of foods do you like to eat? If you let us know, we can make suggestions for easy recipes. I also like dragn's suggestion of choosing one area and delving deeply into it. But, you have to choose the area first. I also agree with GotGarlic's suggestion of learning knife skills. That will serve you well.
