I haven't had those tube biscuits in over half a century. I liked then fine as a kid and adolescent. I only remember them being used for pigs in blankets at home or at someone else's home. For camping and picnics with fire for cooking, we always used Bisquick to make the dough for the pigs in blankets. If I wanted to make pigs in blankets now, I would try with puff pastry. Hmm, I have some puff pastry in the freezer and some very good wieners.

Puff pastry would be good for pigs in a blanket. Never tried it, but have thought about doing it many times.

When you cook pigs in blankets, do it inside or do you do it outdoors? You seem to have a number of ways you could cook pigs in blankets outdoors.

I do it in the oven. I only make them for NYE. It is something I've been doing for years. Good NYE drinkin' food. :ROFLMAO:

Diet sodas. The aftertaste is why I can't make myself drink them.

I'm the opposite. I get an aftertaste from sugared sodas.

I'm with Sara. I like my diet sodas with whiskey. In fact, it's the only time I drink soda at all. My drink of choice, 90% of the time, is water.

A bartender once served me a bourbon and Coke with Diet Coke. One sip, and I knew it was a diet cola. It was a crowded bar, and he was slammed, and just got my order wrong. The bartender was really cool, and mixed me another drink... and didn't charge me for that drink. (y)

I've heard many times that Diet Dr. Pepper is just like regular Dr. Pepper, and it is the least offensive diet soda to my taste buds, but I could still taste it.

Since I rarely drink sodas, I don't worry about the sugar or calories. I get my once or twice a month Dr. Pepper full sugar. Dr. Pepper is a Texas institution. Don't give me no diet version. :ROFLMAO:

OMG I think you're jogging my memory! I believe we did that for camping in Guides!

Make a biscuit dough, put hot dog on stick and cover/wrap the dough around it.
and then try not to burn it but get it cooked. 🤣

I'm the same way when it comes to mixed drinks. When I used to hang out at my favorite 'watering hole' years ago, my drink of choice was Black Velvet and Diet Coke. The bartenders that worked there would often have my drink sitting on the bar before I would even sit down. They knew what I wanted. I enjoyed it there. It was a "Cheers" type of place where everybody knew everybody.

Anyway, even good bartenders screw up once in a while and a couple of times they made my drink with regular Coke. Like you, one sip, and I could tell it wasn't diet. They would redo my drink because they knew I wouldn't finish it with regular Coke.

As for other things that have left a bad taste in my mouth, a pastry (cake) that my boss brought to me that his wife made was one of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten. She's Middle Eastern and does a lot of Arabic/Middle Eastern cooking and she'll send stuff over to me sometimes. My boss will walk in the office, lay a box or a bag down on my desk, and say "Here's another present from Sanaa." :ROFLMAO:

Some of it's good. But these pastries she sent to me were just plain horrid. I wish I knew what it was called, but it was an iced square of what appeared to be cake and it looked good. But when I took a bite, this awful flavor hit me immediately and I instantly spit it back out. I can't even describe the flavor. That's how bad it was. It tasted like a mouthful of both ginger and anise, yet it wasn't sweet. But I was chugging water like crazy and had that taste in my mouth for about an hour afterwards.

There is a dive bar next to my hotel in Houston that is like that. I'm there every six weeks or so, and some of the staff know my name and what I like. Good food, too. Good news is that I am going to Houston tomorrow to Thursday. :)

I used to drink Coke with (something?) but when I thought I was sensitive to certain sugars I switched to Diet Coke. It helped a bit but the taste was just not good.
One of my sons suggested to try with Diet Pepsi, I did and it was sooo much better!
