Thermoworks thermapen here as well. It works
I got the gadgets to check on meat on the braai or in the smoker with alarms and the lot. Used them initially, but hardly ever now as I got to know the smoker

I had a CDN ProAccurate for several years. I bought it because it was cheaper, at the time, than the Thermapen and "just as good". It did a fine job and I liked the infrared scan to take temps like a thermal gun. One day it just quit working. Dead. It was an unparrot.

I bought a Thermapen and it is just better. Faster, the display is oriented correctly (it auto rotates but in a good way). Move to wake. I love this thing. I got it in grey because that was on sale at the time. If this one dies I'd buy another. The previous one I was ok with another, at the right price.

I also have the original Fireboard for the offset. I mostly use the box probes but do use the food probes on occasion. I considered changing the external thermometers in the lid with probes but decided they are close enough (when you know where needles should be, not so much what it says) and are pretty failure safe.

I got the impression you really liked your Thermapen . .

It worked fine. I just decided that $10 was more attractive to me than the price I paid for my Thermapen, which was over $100. They've come down in price, but $66 is still a lot.
