Is shopping at an oriental grocery store risky?

The orient is only one part of Asia. India is in Asia also etc. But for your sake I will use asian instead of oriental.
But is using the word oriental derogatory or what?

Well - maybe. It was removed from official use in USA law a few years back as being pejorative and it's certainly outdated. Is it racist? Maybe... It depends on the use, audience and even who's being labeled. As with most language, common use shifts with time and we adapt. Some changes are tougher than others.

My wife, who’s Hispanic, tells me to go to the Chino market!
I usually go to the Japanese market in Little Tokyo which coincidentally is owned by Koreans. Good selection of Japanese and Korean goods.
